A Moment’s Pause

A Moment’s Pause 2017-02-13T11:53:02-04:00 Kate Cousino

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

I’m still settling in here at Patheos, after a month in my new blog digs. I made the decision to dive right in rather than post an introduction, mostly because I’m still figuring out what, exactly, I want this space to be.

It was easy enough to dive in. I began my Patheos blogging alongside the inauguration of the new US president, and there’s been a lot to talk about. I started off with a bang, blogging on an almost-daily basis that first week.

I’ve slowed down since then, for a lot of reasons. Most of those reasons are named Guillame, Pascal, and Aetheline! I have three children, and this month we’ve averaged two snow days off school a week. Everybody has taken sick days on top of that, due to the nasty chest cold going around. Then this past week was Pascal’s birthday–he’s 9. The chest cold finally made its way to me and knocked me out over the weekend.

I don’t mean this post to be a litany of complaints, however. What I want it to be is the beginning of a commitment to post daily whether or not I feel capable of deep and incisive thought. I know from experience that writing leads to more writing, and I want to give any of you patient enough to hang in here a taste of who I am as well as how I think.

The thoughtful pieces will still come, some here, and some at The Personalist Project. But in between, I hope to blog a variety of other things, including some geek culture, movie and book reviews, family stories, musings on life with ADHD, reflections on faith and culture, and whatever else comes to mind.

Today, there’s snow outside and children inside. I have them working on valentines while I hide in my office with my tea. For a moment, I have both peace in my home and orange pekoe in my mug.

Sometimes, a moment is enough.
