Rooted in the Body, Seeking the Soul: Magic Practitioners Living with Disabilites, Addiction, and Illness

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

The book is finally available for purchase from Megalithica books! This anthology explores magical, occult, and esoteric topics from the view points of practitioners who are disabled, part of the Deaf and blind communities, or have an illness or addiction. Though the voices collected here come from diverse social, magical, and national backgrounds, they don’t represent every individual’s story. The only way to understand the personal history and feelings of any one is to share in open dialogue. One purpose... Read more

When I Hit Bottom

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

We were told that we could not adopt. I had been hospitalized for PTSD too recently. I lost it. But in the aftermath, I am helping to raise my sister's children. We can't see as much as the Gods see; maybe this is an experience I will need if we are able to adopt later. Read more

Hecate in the Hospital

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

I turned to Gaia, offering a silent prayer for her to protect my sister and her son. Gaia said, “No” -- I needed to pray to Hecate. Hecate? Hecate? My mind raced. I understood her to be a dark goddess of the crossroads, the Queen of the Night. But, as my later research showed, she is also a nurse and overseer of the young. Read more

Autumn Equinox Prayers to Gaia

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

During your celebration of thanksgiving, consider offering a prayer to Gaia. She is the Earth Mother, the Great Mother of the Greeks. Today she is also embraced by some members of the environmental movement and recognized as the planet’s all important ecosystem which we could not survive without. We depend on Her for our food, our water, and the very air we breath. Those are all very important things to be thankful for. So even if you don’t worship Her,... Read more

My Mabon Feast

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

The autumnal equinox is just around the corner. It’s a traditional time to celebrate the harvest and it’s a Neo-Pagan ritual of thanksgiving and sharing. This holiday is also called Mabon which was “coined by Aidan Kelly around 1970 as a reference to Mabon ap Modron, a character from Welsh mythology.” Aidan A. Kelly was a member of the New Reformed Orthodox Order of the Golden Dawn. (Wikipedia) One of my favorite things to do on Mabon is to prepare... Read more

Divorcing My Biological Family

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

Divorcing My Biological Family by Lydia M Crabtree I challenged Tara to write about her father’s funeral unfettered by worry and concern that her biological family would comment or be hurt by what she had to say. During my challenge I promised I would write about something I find difficult: my decision to divorce my biological family. I suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of years of physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of my... Read more

Dragonflies

Last updated on: May 31, 2016 at 11:42 am   By Guest Contributor

My father passed away just a few weeks ago. I mourned the kind and caring father he could be, and I was angry and deeply wounded by the psychopath he could be. My relatives encourage me to move on or remember the happy times, but they don't understand that a survivor's healing path is in living from moment to moment. Read more
