Every week there are new press releases, articles, information, and videos popping up concerning Paganism, spirituality, health, or disabilities. Community Linkage is a collection of useful information and sometimes entertainment for you. You can stay informed by adding me to one of your social circles on Google+ or follow me on Twitter.

“Community for the 21st Century” The New Existentialists
This article explains that community is Being-with others. Taking in the presence of others and participating with them. It explores how community has been redefined by social media but has also become more isolated. What I really liked was the idea of Stranger Dinner which are potlucks where friends gather and bring at least one other person no one else knows. This way people expand their social circle with less anxiety. After all, the person is known in some way.

Builder To Pay Millions For Disability Housing Violations
disability scoop
This is the US Governments largest settlement related to disability housing violations. “The deal comes in a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Department of Justice against Texas-based JPI Construction L.P. in which federal officials alleged that the company failed to design and construct several multifamily housing complexes to accommodate people with disabilities.

Under the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, builders are required to make multifamily housing accessible to those with disabilities. The Justice Department alleged that JPI did not meet those requirements at 32 of its properties.

In the agreement announced this week, JPI will pay $10.25 million toward a fund to retrofit inaccessible properties to meet federal standards. The company has also agreed to pay a $250,000 civil penalty.”

“Caroline Jephcott: Nine top tips from a physically disabled parent” Ouch! It’s a disability thing.

Auckland Disability Law sent out a press release stating that New Zealand “Ministry of Justice is proposing to withdraw funding for direct specialist legal services for the disability community from June 2013.” They are concerned that not only would this end Auckland Disability Law but other community law centres “specialising in the complex legal needs of disabled people.”

Meridian Health Clock

There was a link on Reddit in the spirituality subreddit to “The Daily Meridian Clock Generates a Healthy Lifestyle” (Independent Spirituality) I’ve all ways known when my body functioned at its best but I didn’t know there was a theory behind this. Apparently it’s part of Chinese Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. There are quite a few sites on the topic.
