Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
For the month of October, we’ve rallied people together around a simple message. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Your Life Doesn’t Have to Suck. There’s a lot of good stuff–Amazing stuff–in your life right here and now.You can choose to make more of that happen. So we’ve had people on our Facebook page, sharing their own Amazing Days.
Meg wrote, ” Wow! what a month it has been. I decided to join the fun and see what the month could look like. The last day I commented here was the last time I had a normal day…prayer was th major part of each day. I’ve had some amazing results and some very sad times. But, I’d do it all again if given the chance. Thanks for including me.”
And she was not alone:
- Matt took the bus to work, “…and I found myself in the company of a diverse array of working folks from every class and culture. And at the end of it, I’m now walking the last few blocks to my office, dodging puddles and construction traffic and enjoying the falling autumn leaves. It seems like most of my Amazing Days as a 9-7 office worker involve adventures in public transportation…”
- “This site is such joy!” said Darlene.
- From Zanne: “Reconnecting with a good friend: boba tea, casual conversation, & practical theology. Sometimes it’s the slow and simple things.”
- Kat got to “happily just be.”
- Duane smiled, “Just for today, I’ll do that what I already know God wants me to do.”
- Julie “survived Superstorm Sandy. Walked around the neighborhood, first time meeting and talking to many neighbors. And my 4 month old daughter had her first real laugh today. Today is AMAZING!”
And there are 24 hours left to have one more Amazing Day this month, post a picture/video/sentence about it on the Facebook page, and also click the red “31” there for a final chance to win one of our two grand prizes. On Thursday, we’ll have one more drawing to choose two winners. Each will win an autographed copy of our book, a $50 Kiva gift card, and five other books:
- Reborn on the Fourth of July by Logan Mehl-Laituri
- Everyday Missions by Leroy Barber
- Small Things with Great Love by Margot Starbuck
- The Cost of Community by Jamie Arpin-Ricci
- Everyday Justice by Julie Clawson
So plan your Amazingness now and/or keep your eyes out for it tomorrow and report back in. Maybe you’ll win.
And share this with your friends using the buttons below.
(We have our own Amazing Day planned, including trick-or-treating with the staff in a Neurology Intensive Care Unit. You can’t make this stuff up.)
