It’s Personal: Working with Deities and Other Spirits

Last updated on: January 3, 2023 at 4:03 pm By Jessica Jascha

It may be common to believe that deities and other spirits don’t get personal, but in my experience that belief is simply not true. Read more

Beltane: The Witch’s Great Sabbat

Last updated on: April 14, 2023 at 11:55 am By Jessica Jascha

I don’t write often about Sabbats because I don’t really celebrate them as is common. I don’t follow a standard Wheel of the Year. And I could go the rest of my life without hearing about how Easter was originally a pagan festival called Ostara (no it’s not) or how Christmas was originally Yule (no it’s not). Christians celebrate their own holidays and the symbols of their holidays have their own meanings. This is regardless of how cultures merged over... Read more

What I Loved and Hated about The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Last updated on: April 17, 2019 at 9:01 pm By Jessica Jascha

*This Post Contains Spoilers* I’ve loved everything that The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has had to offer so far in terms of story and content, but I don’t love every character. In fact, out of all of the characters in the show I dislike Sabrina and Harvey the most. Sabrina drives me nuts with her thoughtless and selfish behavior. She is somewhat of a moral center for the show, but her morality is driven by hubris and self-interest. To me,... Read more

A Real Witch’s Look at The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Last updated on: April 14, 2019 at 5:49 pm By Jessica Jascha

*This post contains Spoilers* I recently finished watching part 2 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix and I have to say, I loved it. I never wrote about my thoughts on the first part of the series or the holiday special so I’ll be covering my thoughts on everything that’s aired so far. When talking about it with others who watched the show my main criticism of season 1 was that it was literally too dark (is there... Read more

In Defense of Gatekeeping

Last updated on: April 14, 2023 at 12:00 pm By Jessica Jascha

There’s been a lot of conversation in the witch community recently about gatekeeping and whether or not we, as witches, have the right to be gatekeepers. The answer, in my opinion, is yes and no. To be clear, saying “she’s not a real witch” because she’s new to the path, or just discovering things like the cleansing power of certain herbs, or the energies of crystals, or she’s simply enjoying a witchy aesthetic, is just flat out unkind and nothing... Being the Anxious Witch

Last updated on: April 14, 2023 at 12:03 pm By Jessica Jascha

There’s no doubt that certain ways of thinking are unhelpful and can make us miserable. Feeding thought energy into the worst case scenarios, excessive worry, panic, and so on are difficult to live with and are an energy suck. When it comes to magickal workings, it’s important to believe in what you’re doing. But what about all the witches with anxiety and anxiety disorders? What about those who have great difficulty controlling their thoughts? There are many practices we can... Read more

Saints and Witchcraft: The Patron Saints of Witches

Last updated on: August 4, 2022 at 9:02 am By Jessica Jascha

Many witches don’t want there to be any cross-over between their witchcraft practice and mainstream religion. When it comes to working with Saints, though, there’s really no need to be concerned with religious overlap at all. Saints are for everyone. Read more
