6.19.14This summer our church is studying the book of Ephesians together (you can catch up on the messages here). But wanting to do more than simply study it, I’ve challenged our church to memorize a chapter of Ephesians this summer. No, I didn’t say a verse, I said a chapter.

Why memorize a chapter of Ephesians?

This challenge comes out of a personal conviction of mine. Over a decade ago, I heard that a pastor had memorized the entire book of Ephesians and recited it word for word. I couldn’t believe it! I had John 3:16 and a couple of other staple verses memorized, but I didn’t think memorizing an entire book was even humanly possible. So I started memorizing it, just to see if I could do it.

It took well over a year of dedicated work, but I too memorized the book of Ephesians . . . and it changed my life. My comprehension and understanding of the Word grew as I dove deep into it. I truly knew what it meant to meditate on the word day and night. I planted those seeds of truth deep within me, and they have been bearing fruit in my life for the past decade. Since I memorized the book of Ephesians (don’t believe me, here’s me reciting it to my church a few weeks ago), I know you can memorize a chapter. Pick a chapter, they’re all good!

Want to do something meaningful with your summer? Take the Ephesians Challenge, and use #mtvconversation on social media to keep up with how everyone else is doing!
