I’m a born and raised Baptist, which means that the Holy Spirit seemed like a foreign entity for much of my life, someone reserved for my pentecostal and charismatic brethren. As I’ve grown in the faith, I’ve slowly began to learn what it means to walk in the Spirit and depend on the Spirt for daily guidance and power. I’m by no means an expert, but I’m making progress.

I thought I’d share five worship songs that are constantly reminding me about biblical truths about the Holy Spirit. These are my Spirit jam songs. If you’re on Spotify you can listen to a playlist with all of these songs here:

Spirit of the Living God, Vertical Church Band

Spirit of the Living God
Spirit of the Living God
Come now and breathe upon our hearts
Come now and have your way

Cause when you speak, when you move
When you do what only you can do
It changes us, it changes
What we see and what we seek

Here as in Heaven, Elevation Worship

The atmosphere is changing now
For the Spirit of the Lord is here
The evidence is all around
That the Spirit of the Lord is here

Overflow in this place
Fill our hearts with Your love
Your love surrounds us
You’re the reason we came
To encounter Your love
Your love surrounds us

Spirit of God fall fresh on us
We need Your presence
Your kingdom come
Your will be done
Here as in heaven

Behold (Then Sings My Soul), Hillsong Worship

Behold I have a friend
The Spirit breathing holy fire within
My ever present help
Speaking truth when I can’t find it

Light up this broken heart
And light my way
Until my time on earth is done
Oh Holy Spirit
Breathe in me like kingdom come
Oh Holy Spirit
Let Your work in me be done

Spirit Move, Bethel Worship

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We’re transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

Come and blow on through
Spirit move, we’re ready for You to
Come and blow on through
Come and do what only You can do

Holy Spirit, Jesus Culture

Holy Spirit, You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord
Your presence, Lord

Let us become more aware of Your presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness
