5 Modern Worship Songs That Will Speak Life Into Your Soul 2018-04-18T04:49:38-06:00 Josh Daffern

If you’re into modern worship music, here are five recently released worship songs that are speaking to my soul. I believe one of the reasons God gave us the gift of singing is because singing connects to the deepest part of us, to our souls. Everyone needs some go-to worship music that you can turn up and get your “church” on. If you’re ready to speak to your soul through worship music, try these worship songs*:

*Advocating for these worship songs is not necessarily an endorsement for their church, their pastor, or any stripe of theology these worship bands may or may not be connected to. It’s easy to begin to discount entire songs or styles of music because of questionable theology coming out of the churches they’re attached to, but if we went hard core on this, would there be some of the Psalms we would need to discount because David wrote them while in the midst of an affair? Let’s lay aside the theological diatribes and just appreciate some great modern worship music.

Reckless Love – a beautiful song about God’s overwhelming love for us

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God,

So Will I (10 Billion X) – a powerful song sparking a natural response of worship to God’s greatness

If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I

Resurrecting – Need encouragement? This song will lift up your soul!

By Your spirit I will rise
From the ashes of defeat
The resurrected King, is resurrecting me

The Passion – A strong reminder of what Jesus accomplished on the cross

Our chains are gone
Our debt is paid
The cross has overthrown the grave
For Jesus’ blood that sets us free
Means death to death
And life for me

Spirit of the Living God – A few years old but incredibly powerful!

When you speak, and when you move
When you do what only you can do
It changes us, it changes
What we see and what we seek
