The premise behind the Philippians 4 Challenge is simple: take God at his word for 21 days and see what happens. Try things God’s way for three weeks and see if you notice an improvement in your life. That’s it. Philippians 4 contains three incredible promises concerning your inner state of mind (the peace of God to guard you, the presence of God to transform you, resulting in an inner contentment that rises above any circumstance). It also commands four ways to get to this place of inner contentment (choose to be joyful, pray with thanksgiving, think on noble things, repeat daily). The Philippians 4 Challenge is simply a medium for us to encourage each other to do what the Bible commands us to do. Here are four reasons why you should take the Philippians 4 Challenge starting this Sunday:

1. Because the Bible promises incredible things. The peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and our minds. We desperately need something supernatural to protect our minds from all the garbage being thrown at us. We want God to be with us and transform us. And we’re all searching for contentment. The Bible promises all this to us.

2. Because your way isn’t working. If your mind is at perfect peace and if you’ve learned the secret to be content in any and every circumstance, then the Philippians 4 Challenge is not for you. But the vast majority of us haven’t found that peace and contentment yet. We’re searching for something. We’re unsatisfied. That’s proof that our way isn’t working.

3. Because you’re ready for something new. You’re willing to give almost anything a shot if it leads to peace of mind and contentment with life. It’s a new year, time for a new you, so why not? Do you want your 2016 to play out like your 2015, or are you ready for something new?

4. Because the Challenge could change your life. Maybe, just maybe your life could transform in incredible ways. Try to imagine a life where your mind was at peace, protected from the storm around you. Imagine such a closeness to God that you could feel yourself changing and growing. Imagine the next twenty years of your life filled with happiness and contentment as you truly enjoyed the life God gave you. Isn’t that worth taking the Challenge?
