“The Madonna Files, by Stephen Ryan, deftly interlaces the lives of men and women across the globe into a tale of love, redemption, Marian devotion, and God’s grace. With an air of National Treasure, or Pier Paul Reads’ novel, Death of a Pope, the reader plunges into political controversy, chase scenes, a coded message, and an exposition on Marian apparitions.”

“The story follows the Catholic priest, Fr. Dan Baronowski, as he searches for the “Madonna Files,” secret letters of Pope John Paul II which contain the Third Secret of Fatima.

The discussion of the Blessed Virgin Mary forms the heart of this novel, and I found it interesting how the characters discuss the continuity of Mary’s appearances throughout history.

I enjoyed reading about how the characters saw Mary’s constant presence in the modern world, a reality which many people can easily forget.” … “The Madonna Files is an entertaining book, which provides an interesting introduction to Marian apparitions.

In a style akin to that of Bud McFarlane’s Pierced by the Sword, this novel connects all of mankind with the reality that divine grace is at work every day…Perhaps the most interesting facet of this discussion comes by way of the story’s discussion of Medjugorje. As different characters grapple with, and reason through, the visionaries’ words from Medjugorje, the reader is given a good foundation for the arguments for the authenticity of the Medjugorje apparitions.

This book could be very helpful for readers who do not know much about Medjugorje.” Catholic Fiction.net – Anne Marie Hauge

“Ryan weaves together a mesmerizing narrative as he welcomes his readers into a world filled with intrigue and suspense in The Madonna Files….My novel is my conversion story. Through a religious thriller I am trying to show people how I found my faith without hitting people over the head with it. I combine my interests in my book, which is about sailing, apparitions, Russia, Fatima and the simple loving message of Medjugorje.”
