Dear Imam,

For the second week in a row, I was able to follow your Khutba at Jummah.  I was cheering you on when you said that we didn’t have to defend Islam, God would do that himself.

But then you lost me completely when you said, “Sisters, Please do not bring your babies to Jummah.”

I know that there are old people and cranky brothers who don’t want to hear babies in the prayer.

I know you said it is distracting when people are trying to decipher your khutba…

But when you squeeze the women to the back of the prayer hall, and then offer them a balcony area that is less than 1/2 of the area of the men’s prayer area (and is also used to store the funeral garments and other miscellaneous items,) AND then you tell them, Oh yeah, and your kids are not welcome here either.  How do you expect to have a full, thriving Mosque?

Take a lesson from the Churches all across America.  Make a crying room.  It is a simple solution.  The women with small children still feel wanted and accepted, and they can still hear your sermon.  And the ass-hats that get bothered by a small child will be appeased.

The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) never had any problems with children being around him while he was praying.  WHY SHOULD YOU?
