You are Welcome to do Just Enough

Last updated on: April 19, 2020 at 1:26 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

Good morning friends. Actually, it’s just shy of noon here as I sit down to write down the stuff that’s been flying around in my head. I’m not sure how this post will turn out. I have so many things to talk about but I should probably focus on just one thing. Right? I don’t want to be just one more person talking about the quarantine, or working from home, or how you should feel or how you should be... Read more

Into the Unknown

Last updated on: January 10, 2020 at 6:11 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

I’ve been cooking so many posts in my head. Things I think and stuff I need to talk about and then I remember it takes time to write. Time I need to scoop out of the day/week/month, time I take from something else, bit by bit until I have an hour or so to sit and get my thoughts from my brain onto this screen. Today, the cup runneth over* and I’m standing in my kitchen, remembering about how my... Read more

Stepping Up When Big Deal Things Happen

Last updated on: October 2, 2019 at 12:45 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

Happy Monday! Happy Fall! Happy Quiet, Rainy, Overcast, Snuggly Day.   How are you?   I’ve been cooking a few things over in my mind that I’ve wanted to talk about, but just kept putting it off. I have work to get done, laundry to finish, jewelry orders to catch up on, people to care for, pets to feed and snuggle.. and I’ve just put talking about the stuff that I’m thinking about on the back burner. I just. I’m... Read more

Egypt, InterConnections and Being Brave

Last updated on: March 5, 2019 at 10:09 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

Life continues to fly past at record speed these days. It seems like just yesterday it was December, and now it’s March and I’ve not written again in almost 3 months. Since my last post, we visited Egypt (my first time back in 14 years) and we’ve had 2 more InterConnections events and this weekend I’m speaking on a panel about Intersectional Feminism. So, Egypt. Why had it been so long? Well, the last time we were there was 2005,... Read more

InterConnections and Me

Last updated on: December 12, 2018 at 9:48 am   By Kristina ElSayed

Hello Lovelies! It’s been pretty quiet here. Just living the life. Since January, I’ve been working for a non-profit organization called Women of Toledo. WOT was started by a Muslim, Malaysian woman and a first generation Christian, Syrian-American woman. I’ve had a year of growing and learning how to be more hands on in my advocacy. I’m working behind the scenes in the office, learning how to be Nina’s right hand and also developing a new flagship program for women... Read more

Band Camp and Special Trips

Last updated on: September 6, 2018 at 11:21 am   By Kristina ElSayed

Hey, How are you!? Life here has been crazy busy these last few months. I can’t believe it’s been since June since we last talked. Let’s see, in June, Ramadan ended and we had Eid celebrations. We had a really nice weekend and then returned back to real life with work (me, Khaled and Mr. Fox), Summer Gym, Volunteering at the Zoo and Summer Classes at the University. At the end of July, Pea and I went to Band Camp.... Read more

Does the Ban Reflect What the US Really Wants?

Last updated on: June 27, 2018 at 12:56 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

On the same day that the SCOTUS upheld the Muslim Ban, my daughter showed me the Adam Levine video from ‘Girls Like You.’ The two don’t seem to be related in any way, shape or form. We had just listened to the song on the radio. The lyrics don’t give any clue as to why this is remarkable. Spent 24 hours I need more hours with you You spent the weekend Getting even, ooh ooh We spent the late nights... Read more

Winning Giveaways

Last updated on: May 20, 2018 at 3:18 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

If you are a long time reader, you know that I’m much more chatty during Ramadan. This year is no different. But this time, I won a giveaway that was hosted on Instagram! Its crazy. I enter tons of giveaways but I never win. Well, almost never. I won some lunchbox notes from What Really Matters podcast when my kids were little. Then last year, I won a gift card from Sadia Ash for a Juniper Smoke drawing. This week, I... Read more

Am I an Ally?

Last updated on: May 16, 2018 at 6:10 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

I joined the muslim community in Toledo when Khaled and I married 20 years ago. In fact, we married on a Friday, went and spent the weekend at a bed and breakfast in southern Ohio and on the way home we stopped at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo. That was my first time inside of a mosque. Since that day, we have spent time in the different mosques around town and for various reasons, I never really felt at... Read more

Dahlia Qadri, Intern, Hijab and International Woman’s Day!

Last updated on: March 10, 2018 at 1:57 pm   By Kristina ElSayed

On Thursday,  I was blessed to be in a room of amazingly powerful, incredibly strong, brilliant women who were owning their power and sharing their strength. This is the first year I was involved in International Women’s Day, and was in the audience of a panel discussion that featured women from  Africa, Jordan, India and Lebanon. It was hosted by an organization that was founded by a Malaysian woman, and employs women who are from very diverse backgrounds and all... Read more
