About

Gabriel Blanchard is a Catholic convert, gay author, radical leftist, unprofessional linguist, and Japanese food snob. He grew up as an evangelical Navy brat, and got a degree in Classics from the University of Maryland. He currently lives in Baltimore and is a member of a local parish of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Peter. (The everything notwithstanding, he is in fact not a vegan.)
St. Jerome said that “Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.” In that spirit, since 2023, I’ve devoted this blog primarily to translating Scripture and offering linguistic and historical commentary on the text, hoping to promote familiarity with the Bible among fellow Catholics and encourage them to study it for themselves, in unity with the whole Catholic Church. Since Advent 2025, I’ve been working on a complete translation of the New Testament, beginning with the Gospel of John and proceeding as follows:
THE NEW LAW
The Gospel According to John
The Gospel According to Matthew
The Gospel According to Mark
The Gospel According to Luke
The Acts of the Apostles
THE PROTOAPOSTOLIC EPISTLES
The First Letter of Peter
The Second Letter of Peter
The Letter of Jude
The Letter of James
The First Letter of John
The Second Letter of John
The Third Letter of John
THE PAULINE EPISTLES
The Letter of Paul to the Romans
The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians
The Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians
The Letter of Paul to the Galatians
The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians
The Letter of Paul to the Philippians
The Letter of Paul to the Colossians
The First Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians
The Second Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians
The First Letter of Paul to Timothy
The Second Letter of Paul to Timothy
The Letter of Paul to Titus
The Letter of Paul to Philemon
The Letter to the Hebrews
THE APOCALYPSE
The Revelation of Jesus Christ
This structure parallels the structure of the Hebrew Bible (which features three sections: Torah or Law; Nevi’im or Prophets, divided into Former and Latter; and Kethuvim or Writings). The Hebrew Bible arranges its books in this way so as to place central theological emphasis upon the Temple; the New Testament, rearranged as shown above, makes a similar point, but about the Church, which is the new Temple.
