I keep pondering how to begin my comments, but when someone on the blog wanted proof of whether most people find their “true love” in the gay world, I have to speak of Edward’s experience. When he first transgressed, he felt he would stay with that man forever. How great was his shock when within a couple of months, the man was with someone else! It was devastating to watch Edward’s progression from believing he would find his “eternal companion,” to what he is reduced to now: a man constantly searching for someone he can introduce his children to. It has not happened yet and he’s been active in the gay lifestyle for more than 10 years. When his mother died, he made an honest comment (and these comments are very rare). He said, “I am not happy. This is not a happy lifestyle.” We seldom talk about his lifestyle, but he told me years ago that when he met “the one,” he would wait a year and then introduce him to our children. What has happened instead is that the last time the children were with him, he kept talking about a man who was in the gay Olympics. When this man showed up to go on a tourist attraction outing with Edward and the kids, our daughter developed a sudden stomachache and could not go. Our son went because he wanted to see the tourist attraction, but was upset enough to comment after he came back home that he never wanted to visit his father again. He turns 18 in a few months, so that probably will be something that will come true. Though Edward encourages the children being raised in the church, he has lost his moral compass and is not able to control comments around the children that before he would never have made.
