LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

Misha Magdalene1 is a native of central California, happily transplanted to the Pacific Northwest. They first stumbled across modern Paganism in the deep South in the mid-1980s and have held onto it ever since, working in both private and public settings as a witch, priest, liturgist, musician, and occasional court jester. They are an initiate of the Anderson Feri tradition with a background in Gardnerian Wicca and other English traditions of witchcraft, and have been known to dabble recklessly2 in both modern ceremonial magic and grimoiric goetia.

On a slightly less esoteric level, they graduated from the University of Washington magna cum laude with a degree in gender studies. They have been blogging since 2001, negotiating the online world since 1987, playing Dungeons & Dragons since 1981, and listening to weird music since birth.

They are intensely fond of mountains, rivers, forests, oceans, fog banks, progressive rock, extreme metal, thumpy dance music, thick novels, and gender-neutral pronouns. They live on occupied Duwamish territory in the Seattle area with their polymath wife, their precocious daughter, and a long-suffering bamboo plant named Smitty. When they’re not being all witchy and stuff, they’re probably cuddling with their sweetie and kid, teaching university students how to appease the gods of Academia, or doing housework to avoid arguing with people on the Internet.

The TL;DR version: A geeky, queer, feminist Faery witch and sorcerer with a degree in gender studies, a sense of humor, and an opinion or three to share.

Cheers! ♥

  1. No, this isn’t my legal name, but it’s not not my legal name, either. As the kids say, it’s complicated.
  2. This is a joke. I make those from time to time.
