The Christian practice of mindfulness offers me a sacred opportunity for experiencing the life of Christ residing in my heart. Mindfulness like contemplation helps transform my mind and thoughts into perceiving Christs presence dwelling in me. I become cognizant of the fact my life and soul live in union with the Spirit of God.
In Christian theology salvation is the recovery of our true self, the image and reflection of God in us. In the spiritual discipline of mindfulness, I can experience moment by moment my spirit living in unity with the resurrected Christ. I am dead to Adam’s nature controlling me, and I am now alive and live by the spirit of Christ living through me! It sounds impossible. However, through contemplative reflection, I now have spiritual eyes to see and discern the divine unity and purpose of God throughout Creation. I perceive God’s love is not outside me; His love is present with me every moment.
For me to live mindfully of God, for Him to be present in my mind and heart is a constant battle, but it gives me the hope to live a victorious life in the presence of Christ. I lay claim to a glorious truth God lives inside me, not outside me; He dwells within my heart. I am like the Apostle Paul while residing in a body of flesh and blood can be caught up into the third heaven and behold His glory now living in me! Mindfulness lets me live fully aware I am truly one with Christ and the Holy Spirit, who lives in me.
Take a deep breath and relax for a moment. Everything you need is present within you. Christ is the vine and you are the branch. Abide in Him today!
