Saturday Fun in February

Last updated on: February 3, 2013 at 1:46 am   By Abra Carnahan

We topped out around 40 degrees, but the sun was shining and most of the snow had melted. After months of being cooped up, we all needed to get out. Here’s a list of fun, free or nearly free, things you can do with your kids to get outside when it is still chilly. Bundle up! 1) Bubbles can be bought from the dollar store year round, and usually in 3 packs. 2) Raking leftover leaves. It’s amazing how entertaining... Read more

Let’s just clear this up real quick…

Last updated on: February 1, 2013 at 4:17 am   By Abra Carnahan

Breasts are sexual. Before you had a baby, your breasts served a sexual function. After you wean your baby, they will revert back to enticing and comforting your husband full-time (whether you personally find them alluring anymore is totally irrelevant). To say that the true function of breasts is only for feeding infants is condemning women who cannot or have not breastfed by implying they aren’t fulfilling their “true purpose.” It’s like saying barren women are functionally men. Where in... Read more

The Rude Vax

Last updated on: January 31, 2013 at 3:53 am   By Abra Carnahan

I wish there was a vaccination for rudeness.” I just spent ten minutes on a discussion forum about the side effects of vaccinations, or at least, that was the question the original poster had. She was met with other mothers claiming that her baby was going to die of SIDS from them. Doh! Sadly, it seems the people who would need a rude vaccine the most don’t believe in them to begin with. Coincidence? Look, get them or don’t. You... Read more

War Between the Sexes Part II

Last updated on: January 28, 2013 at 7:28 pm   By Abra Carnahan

I am somewhat amused to see how many guys were clinking their beer steins approvingly over this post. Um, fellas, I was talking to the womenfolk, but now that I have your attention, let me address you. Before I do that, let me point out that with the original subject matter, the men experiencing labor like pain, we should take note that it was a publicity stunt. I’m guessing if the guys had sat stoic for 8-36 hours (or a... Read more

War Between the Sexes

Last updated on: January 27, 2013 at 1:10 am   By Abra Carnahan

Recently a YouTube video went viral (again, a similar one made the rounds several years ago) about two men who had the opportunity to feel what labor felt like. Through electrical shocks, their stomachs were contracted and released and we get to see the whole business go down thanks to modern technology. As you can imagine, they did not handle labor as graciously as they could have, but to be fair, I’ve watched videos of women who have handled it... Read more

Abracadabra

Last updated on: January 27, 2013 at 12:32 am   By Abra Carnahan

I am so thankful that God has given us medicine and healthcare. Be it medicine found in our garden or the type that is developed in a lab. When you think about it, medicine is just modern magic. You add something to your body that isn’t being produced on its own and it changes the future. You were dying faster then usual, but now you are dying at a normal rate. TADA! Because we live in a fallen world, we must... Read more

But someone is wrong on the Internet!!

Last updated on: January 27, 2013 at 12:27 am   By Abra Carnahan

I like people. Individually, every one of us is a unique puzzle. We all have a story and each one is interesting. Collectively, we are generally pretty amusing, too, but in a different way. I enjoy learning peoples likes and dislikes. I find individual reasons to be thoroughly fascinating. We all do what we think is the right thing to do, and for moral issues, I do believe that there is right and there is wrong. With methods, however, often... Read more

Whitewashed Tombs

Last updated on: January 27, 2013 at 12:14 am   By Abra Carnahan

As expected, the pro-“choice” movement continues to keep it classy and not creepy at all with the 40th anniversary Roe vs. Wade commercial. You can only whitewash tombs so many times before the paint peels and everyone will see you for what you are. I feel great compassion and sorrow for women who have had abortions. I feel sorry for people who think they are doing the right thing by supporting the pro “choice” movement without having actually watched a... Read more
