I was really sad when one year, much to my dismay, Christmas simply wasn’t as exciting as it had been in years past. I was a young tween or teen (I don’t remember which), but as the years progressed, the exhaustion and muted enjoyment over the holidays seemed to become my new normal.

This year, I’m pleased to announce that child-like enthusiasm and bliss can be recaptured if we set our minds to it. I’ve spent more intentional time and energy this year leaning into Christ then I ever have in my entire life and it turns out, as He graciously, patiently reveals my sins and shortcomings to me, the bigger and more wonderful He becomes to me. I’m realizing that this is just the tip of the iceberg since I’ll always have sins to address this side of glory so reason stands that God will only become more generous, more glorious, more amazing for as long as I live — and this is super exciting!!

The first Christmas marks the beginning of the end to all suffering, sin, darkness and despair – mine and yours included. This incredibly good news is the best gift anyone could ask for! So here I am, dancing around the living room with the music turned up to 11, licking the bowl while I make cookies, singing loudly (even though I probably shouldn’t out of love for our neighbors) and being dead on my feet, happy exhausted before 8PM and I couldn’t be more happy about it! Immanuel, that is, God with Us is already here! Praise God!!
