A Reader Tries to Square the MAGA/100% Catholic Circle, Part 3 of 3 2020-01-16T20:56:52-07:00 Mark Shea

We are now up to Email #7, in which my readers shifts again, this time to the Brown Menace:

Caravan organizers are putting the lives of Women and children in danger

Sweden is losing its country due to mass migration. Will the United States fall the same way that is happened in Sweden?

Thanks for making clear that race, not the Church’s teaching, is what matters here. Why, I can remember a decade or so ago when the big Right Wing Panic du Jour was “Demographic Winter” and all Good Christians had to get busy outbreeding the brown Mooslums before they swamped us.  So here come millions of Christians at our border, ready to work hard, devout, interested only in building a better life for their families and willing to do hard work.

Suddenly, it became clear to the Good White Christians in the US that the issue was not so much the Muslim part as the brown part.  Funny that the Lie Machine picks Sweden as the country to illustrate their Purity Panic.

Email #8, in which my reader cherry picks one paragraph from the Catechism to rebut something nobody is saying while ignoring the rest of the Church’s teaching, because he is totally 100% in support of the Church’s teaching.

Catholic Catechism states that:  2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

Scott Reichart from Catholic Answers: https://www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/a-nation-has-a-right-to-control-its-borders

Mark: Just for the record. The United States allows more LEGAL immigrants than any nation in the world.

Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

BTW: If you want to continue debating I will debate you all day long.

Seeking asylum is not against the law.  Kidnapping children from their parents and disappearing them into a state system is.  Meanwhile, since I never said a word about open border, you are “debating” something I never said.  You have made it abundantly clear that all you are not interested in 100% of the Church’s teaching, but in cannibalizing bits and pieces (as here) to accessorize your real belief—in Trump and whatever he does.

Be more prolife, not less. Defend human life from conception to natural death.

Email #9, in which my reader moves from “Bring it!  I could do this all day!” to “I’m outta here”:

WOW!

This tells me all I need to  know.

After I read this. I found out it is a waste of time debating you.

This will be my last email sent to Mark Shea.

Me too.  Anybody who takes Novus Ordo Watch seriously has definitely made clear that they do not believe the Church’s teaching since it denies we have had a pope since Pius XII.

You evidently wrote me because your conscience is troubled by the massive contradiction between your support of Trump and the Catholic Church’s teaching you want to tell yourself you believe as you make open war on it.  I can’t help you pretend that contradiction does not exist.  But I can tell you  there is a way out of the war that is haunting your conscience: repent of those things you are saying and doing that obviously contradict our Holy Faith, go to confession, receive the abundant mercy of God, and then start obeying the Church where you once fought her.  The Magisterium, not EWTN, is the teacher of the Faith.
