Would you please put up this prayer request for this mother of 4, soon to be 5 girls? RG is a catechist at our parish in the kids program and pregnant with baby #5 and recently was diagnosed with a rare tumor in her lung. I will let her explain in her own words:
“Things at the doctor were not awesome unfortunately. I had a tumor when I was 18, in my lungs, and I had most of my lung removed. It was an extremely rare tumor, and it’s even more rare for it to recur, but it looks like that is what’s happening. The pregnancy presents a problem of further testing to see exactly what is going on, so it’s a waiting game, and a hoping nothing goes wrong between now and then game. I really appreciate the prayers, we need them right now.
….We really could use all the prayers we can get. I really just want to be able to get through this pregnancy without having any major episodes that would require a “scope” into my lungs, as that would cause the baby to have to be born earlier than I want her to be. I just need to get through 6 more weeks! And we are really praying, that I can have some time at home with the baby before any major surgeries need to take place, because I can only have this surgery as close as Seattle. Of course prayers that surgery won’t be necessary are also encouraged!! I have a hard time sharing it too much, because it was so hard the first time around, I just am not ready to face it! I have another comparative CT scan coming up, so I will hopefully know more then.”
Thank you, Mark. We all know the power of prayer and I know RG and her family really appreciate the prayer support for not only her, but her little girls and her amazing husband.
I also have another friend who’s brother was injured in a biking accident, sustaining a serious head injury. He had just graduated from college and had been hired to work at high tech company. The company said they will hold his job for him, but he has quite the recovery ahead of him. His girlfriend is a fallen away Catholic but he is from a strong Catholic family and has a strong faith himself. He had been placed in a drug induced coma as his brain swelled, requiring the skull bone to be removed to deal with the swelling. He has finally come out of the coma after two weeks and sister in law reports the following:
Thanks be to God!! A lot has been happening in the last 24 hours, and David is apparently now out of the coma. Today he was able to sit up and even stand with assistance. He has fed himself, AND he can say his full name. That is all I was told. They will be working toward moving him into rehab and out of the ICU in the next day or two.
Please continue in your persistence with God on David’s behalf. There is still so much unknown to the matters of David’s recovery. An MRI of his brain last week did show more damage than they had hoped, and that is very scary for those who care for him. His oldest sister Angela who is a neuro nurse just arrived today to help with his parents and the processing of the information.
Please add this update, Mark, for David from his mother:
“Much happened this morning. David ate by himself. David said his full name when asked. He stood up with guidance. He sat in the chair. He has a brown helmet to wear now. They will try to get him into rehab tomorrow. That will be 3 hours per day. When they release him, he must go into a nursing home or home with us. We plan on bringing him home. He must have 24 hour care. It will be a year (a guess by rehabilitation) until he is back to normal. He sleeps much.
So we have much to do. David has overcome a lot and has a long stretch to go. Continue to keep us in your prayers and good thoughts. AND THANK GOD.”
Father, thank you for the healing you have granted so far. Give a safe delivery to mom and baby and continued healing to David. Mother Mary, St. Luke and St. Gianna, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
