Taco Bell Warning: Beware the 30 oz. Diet Pepsi! 2015-03-13T15:31:24-05:00 Mark D. Roberts

After a recent trip to “the always delicious Taco Bell,” I thought I’d check their nutritional information (chart from Taco Bell website on 10/17/2012). I was pleased to discover that my favorite items (off the “Fresco” menu) are actually relatively healthy. Taco Bell, always delicious . . . and healthy. Woo-hoo!

BUT, I was horrified to learn one of Taco Bell’s deep, dark secrets. Here is a portion of the Taco Bell nutrition page. I have not altered it in any way, other than to add a yellow line that highlights my discovery.

What a shock! You can order a 16 oz. Diet Pepsi, a 20 oz. Diet Pepsi, or a 40 oz. Diet Pepsi, and you’ll get a drink with zero calories. But if you happen to order the 30 oz. Diet Pepsi, look out! Those thirty ounces contain 2390 calories! Yikes! One has to wonder what is in that Diet Pepsi, besides Diet Pepsi and ice. That’s more calories than a meal of Volcano Nachos, a Cheesy Gordita Cruch, and a 40 oz. sugary Mountain Dew.

Has anybody told Mayor Bloomberg about this? He may need to start banning 30 oz. diet drinks from Taco Bell.

At any rate, now you know what to avoid when placing your next order at “the always delicious Taco Bell.”

UPDATE: As of 5:27 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, the Taco Bell website has been corrected. The 30 0z. Diet Pepsi now contains no calories.
