Continued from part 1. Closing the Gap There is only one way to heal the collective trauma of our generation. You must close the gap between your ability to feel and your ability to heal, and to do that we must enter the gap to rescue our innate human capacity for affection. To reclaim your potency you must open your heart. To become powerful you must become intimate. Intimacy is the source of all true power. Only in your willingness... Read more

Last updated on: September 25, 2015 at 5:18 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

We’re going to take a deep dive into the Unique Self teachings over the next period of time! I want to start by sharing this video from TEDxSinCity. It was called “Your Unique Self: The Future of Enlightenment.” It was a fantastic event, and it was there that I met several of the thought leaders and change agents with whom I work and collaborate today, under the umbrella of The Center for Integral Wisdom. What happens when you take the... Read more

Unique Self – A Puzzle Piece in the Larger Puzzle

Last updated on: December 20, 2015 at 10:14 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

The Third Experience of Self: Unique Self by Marc Gafni A puzzle piece, which fits perfectly into, and is held by, the larger puzzle. The third experience of self, Unique Self, is your unique expression of True Self. It is both your unique perspective and your unique intimacy. As Unique Self you realize, while the universe is seamless, it does have features. You are a unique feature of the universe. You have a distinctive personal quality. If your name were... Read more

Evolutionary We-Space – Unique Self, Part 9

Last updated on: July 14, 2014 at 5:17 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

Let me tell you a story. It’s about a sailor who goes to Tahiti with a friend. He is desperately looking for a wife. The tradition at the time was that you would negotiate with a woman’s father for her hand in marriage. He sees a woman who he thinks is beautiful. His friend doesn’t exactly agree. The tradition was to sell the most beautiful women for nine cows. The father offers his daughter for three cows. The sailor insists... Read more

The Democratization of Enlightenment – Unique Self, Part 8

Last updated on: July 14, 2014 at 5:17 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

– by Marc Gafni Unique Self is the essential portal for the democratization of enlightenment. It’s a term I first began deploying in my doctoral studies at Oxford almost a decade ago, and it has become an essential dimension to World Spirituality teaching. Democratization of enlightenment doesn’t mean everyone is enlightened in an equal way. It means that the possibility of enlightenment is what William James called a genuine option for every human being who aspires to it. Enlightenment is... Read more

Unique Self and Soul – Unique Self, Part 7

Last updated on: April 15, 2014 at 1:03 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

What’s the difference between Unique Self and soul? Soul means different things in the different traditions. In some of the texts and traditions, it means the spiritual quality of your separate self. As long as it means this, it is limited in time, place, and duration—so it is subject ultimately to death. It lacks the quality of the infinite. It is special, beautiful, holy, and sacred—it’s your soul—but ultimately it is an expression of separateness and subject to the contraction... Read more

Unique Self and Evolutionary We-space – Unique Self, Part 6

Last updated on: April 15, 2014 at 1:02 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

Unique Self is the core technology in creating an evolutionary We-space, a space beyond any individual. There are always two views of community. From the Western tradition, basically we are all separate selves. We can’t really come together, but we can give up some of our rights to be protected by the central government. No authentic communication is possible. Or—emerging out of a more continental philosophical tradition—is that the primary unit of reality is the community. Neither of those positions... Read more

Why Unique Self Changes Everything – Unique Self, Part 5

Last updated on: April 15, 2014 at 12:58 pm By Dr. Marc Gafni

Unique Self actually changes everything in almost every field, discipline, endeavor, and arena of human experience. For example: 1. If you want to identify your vocation, if you identify it from a Unique Self place, it’s entirely different than simply asking, “What am I good at?” You begin to approach the vocation issue in a different way. You’re not hunting for a job. You’re finding your way of bringing your Unique Gifts into the world. 2. Relationships. Who do I want... Read more
