The film follows evangelical leaders in America and Uganda along with... Read more

Warren Perry is the Aquatics Director at the Greenwich Water Club outside New York City, where he coaches swimmers, rowers, and triathletes. He also serves as a color commentator and analyst for the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming Championships. It hasn’t always been this way. Walking on to the deck of this year’s Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming Championships, I take a few moments to greet the coaches, swimmers, and officials on my way to the Broadcaster’s Table. It’s been ten years... Read more

Good in the Presence of Evil
Last updated on: September 11, 2013 at 10:00 am By Andrew Marin
There is evil in this world--some would even say that evil are those who are religious. But religion is not inherently evil. Not the Muslim faith the terrorists claim to represent. Not the Christian faith that its extremists promote either. Culture has gotten away from us; a society where headlines and extremism is promoted as acceptable. Even more so, extremism, whether good or bad, is the only way one can make headlines. But life is not that simple. There is nuance in everything, no matter how much partisan activists, the media and especially social media have tried to strip it away into constrained binaries. Read more

We are gathering again this upcoming Monday, September 9th, for our regular Living in the Tension gathering. A good friend of ours, Br. Michael, will be sharing tangible things that we can do to be allies to those that are bisexual, statements he would advise avoiding, and a bit of his own story. We will be meeting in our regular spot in Room 124 on 5255 N Ashland Ave. at 7pm. We would love to hear about what you would... Read more

Transparency and Vulnerability
Last updated on: September 4, 2013 at 1:03 pm By Andrew Marin
The following post is from Brent Bailey, a Master of Divinity student at Abilene Christian University. Brent. You can find his blog at oddmanout.net. One of many “Aha!” moments for me working with The Marin Foundation this summer was when Kevin brought to my attention the difference between transparency and vulnerability, two words I had been using synonymously. Whereas I employed both words to mean something like “the opposite of hiding or secrecy,” they actually each represent different approaches to sharing parts... Read more

Blog Update
Last updated on: August 24, 2013 at 2:27 pm By Andrew Marin
Hello Everyone, As you can see we haven’t been posting much in the past few weeks. With the transition fast approaching, and the writing of this book and this book, blogging has taken a backseat at The Marin Foundation as we are all working to adjust to our new roles and reality. I’m feeling great about the transition, and very excited for what the future holds. We will pick up our regular Monday, Wednesday, Friday blogging schedule again, starting September... Read more

Living in the Tension – Mon 8/26
Last updated on: August 23, 2013 at 9:52 am By Andrew Marin
For our upcoming Living in the Tension gathering on Monday, August 26, we will be watching the documentary We Were Here. The documentary tells the story of the arrival and impact of AIDS in San Francisco, specifically focusing on the lives of five individuals who were affected by the epidemic. It is not only a window into the suffering and loss experienced by the gay community at that time, but an inspiring testament to the resiliency, sense of community and compassion that... Read more
