We’re excited to be welcoming Jennifer Knapp for a stop on her Inside Out Faith tour at our next large Living in the Tension community gathering at Roscoe’s in Chicago on 3356 N. Halsted Street. The event will be start at 7pm on Thursday, May 31st. The free event is being co-sponsored by the LGBT center in Chicago, Center on Halsted, and is a 21+ event.

Grammy nominated and Dove award-winning artist, Jennifer Knapp, has long been regarded as a premier artist in the Christian Contemporary Music genre. Jennifer chose to confront long-held speculation with a very public “coming out” in 2010. The revelation sparked much public debate amid cries for immediate rejection from Christian music leaders, retailers and fans alike. In an effort to continue to create a positive and constructive dialogue on behalf of LGBT people of faith, Jennifer is now presenting Inside Out Faith. Having experienced, first hand, the devastating effects of rejection and judgment, Jennifer knows full well the challenges of being “out” in certain faith communities.

Part concert, part story telling event, Inside Out Faith is about breaking the cone of silence experienced by many LGBT people of faith. Through her passionate music and disarming charm, Jennifer speaks of the challenges she has faced in publicly claiming her faith and sexual orientation as well as her hope for others to step into their unique identities.

We hope you’ll join us for the night with Jennifer as she shares her heart and music with us. You can let us know if you’re planning on coming over at the Facebook event page.

Much love.
