Hello everyone! Wow, what a last 2 weeks…and I still have one more to go. I am sooo sorry for not blogging everyday, every other day, or even once a week. Ouch. The original schedule I had been given for my first two weeks was the following:
Spring Harvest Tour (Dates, Locations and Event):
April 5 (Minehead) – afternoon lecture
April 6 (Minehead) – evening panel participant
April 8 (Skegness) – afternoon lecture
April 9 (Skegness) – evening panel participant
April 10 (Minehead) – afternoon lecture
April 11 (Minehead) – evening panel participant
April 13 (Skegness) – afternoon lecture
April 14 (Skegness) – evening panel participant
April 15 (Minehead) – afternoon lecture
April 16 (Minehead) – evening panel participant
Seems feasible, only speaking once a day with a few days off here and there. However, here is what I actually ended up speaking at these past two weeks:
Spring Harvest Tour (Dates, Locations and Event):
April 5 (Minehead) – afternoon lecture
April 6 (Minehead) – afternoon church service, evening panel participant
April 7 – drive from the South of England all the way to the North of England. This took 10.5 hours.
April 8 (Skegness) – afternoon lecture
April 9 (Skegness) – afternoon general session for youth event, evening panel participant (depart directly from evening panel and drive overnight all the way back to the South of England to make it in time for the afternoon lecture the next day. Only took 8 hours this time)
April 10 (Minehead) – afternoon lecture and book signing
April 11 (Minehead) – morning general session for youth event, afternoon general session for adults, evening panel participant
April 12 – drive, again, from the South of England all the way back to the North of England. Drive is getting “better” … took about 7 hours.
April 13 (Skegness) – afternoon lecture and book signing
April 14 (Skegness) – afternoon general session for youth event, evening panel participant (depart directly from evening panel and drive overnight, again, all the way back to the South of England to make it in time for the afternoon lecture the next day. Took 9 hours this time)
April 15 (Minehead) – afternoon lecture and book signing
April 16 (Minehead) – morning general session for youth event, afternoon general session for adults, evening panel participant
Then on April 17th I got real sick. I’ve been trying to sleep the last two days (hasn’t worked out real well) and I’m feeling not too much better. It was that second overnight drive and pushing through those next two days on only a few hours of sleep that really got me. I’ve now got a couple of days off before I speaking again in London (at two LGBT events) and once at a church service in Eastbourne. My goal (goal, that is) is to start relaying some stories and stuff from the last two weeks over the next couple of days to keep you all updated. Thanks for hanging in there with me! Been quite a ride thus far.
Talk soon.
Much love.
