We are pleased to announce that our new bimonthly column – Food, Love, & Memories – will debut next Wednesday, May 7th!

Some of our most evocative memories arise from shared meals with friends or strangers, being fed by our mothers as children (or adults), or a simple sniff of the spice jar. We break bread, and learn something about ourselves and our relationship to others & the world in the process.

Do you have a story to share? Use a meaningful or favorite recipe as the foundation of a great story. Send your story+recipe to us at: stories [AT] loveinshAllah DOT com with the subject line: “Food/memory submission.” Submissions should be between 500-1,200 words. As always, we invite a diversity of voices and perspectives to submit!

For examples of the types of stories we are looking for, please read here and here.

Join us in welcoming the newest members of the www.patheos.com/blogs/loveinshallah family, our food column editors: Jilan Armstrong & Farah Naz Khan!

Jilan Armstrong lives, eats and laughs with her family in Las Vegas, Nevada. She currently works at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a supervisor at the Cannon Center of Survey and Data. In her free time she cooks and bakes trying to perfect recipes with her husband. You can find her on Twitter @Jilanvegas raging about social issues or opining her obsession of the science fiction and fantasy genre.

Farah Naz Khan is an internal medicine resident at Emory University. After graduating from college in Boston, she returned to her Alabama hometown to attend medical school, where she was reunited with the South Asian influenced Southern hospitality that had shaped her childhood. From the welcome home feasts prepared by her mom to the Sunday morning pancake breakfasts made by her dad, food has always served as an ambassador of love in her family. Follow her on Twitter @farah287 or read some of her thoughts at farah287.blogspot.com.
