I’m Making a Lot of New Friends in Pittsburgh

Last updated on: October 2, 2012 at 9:04 pm   By Jeffrey Overstreet

I’m so grateful that the good people of Jubilee 2011 – especially Scott Calgaro – invited me to Jubilee 2011. I’ve been so blessed already by what I’ve seen and heard from enthusiastic students and inspiring speakers (Denise Frame Harlan!!) that I would like to put aside the three presentations that I’ve come to give and just continue to soak up all of the goodness. And by the way, they have a fantastic… and dangerous… bookstore. (more…) Read more

The Top 25 Horror Movies of All Time!

Last updated on: October 2, 2012 at 9:07 pm   By Jeffrey Overstreet

Image has just posted their list of the Top 25 Horror Movies. I participated in the vote, and I’m pleased with the results (although I now have to update my Netflix queue with those titles I haven’t seen). You might ask, “What in the world are these people thinking, recommending horror movies?! I thought that Image was a journal of Christian thought on the arts and religion!” (more…) Read more

Over the Rhine is enjoying an excellent 2011 so far. Their fan-funded album The Long Surrender, my personal favorite from their entire 20-year catalog, is enjoying rave reviews all over the place. One of the highlights of their current success came last week, when they were interviewed on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” (more…) Read more
