**Listen Linda Speaks: Celebrating Carolyn Coleman**

In the tapestry of life, we often find threads of connection woven through the hearts of special individuals. For many, there exists a person who shines brightly, a guiding light beyond the shadows. For me, that person is Carolyn Coleman, affectionately known as Mama Gentry. She embodies inspiration and blessing, a true testament to the power of friendship and love.

Mama Gentry arrived in my life at a moment when I felt adrift, when the world seemed cold and lonely. With her gentle presence, she listened more than she spoke, offering empathy and understanding. Yet, she is also the friend who isn’t afraid to check me when I need it. In today’s world, true friendship is a rare gem, and I can confidently say that Carolyn holds a solidified place in my heart.

A daughter, wife, and mother, Carolyn is a pillar of her community in Bessemer, Alabama. With a B.S. in Nursing from Samford University and an M.A. in Health Service Administration from Strayer University, she brings over 37 years of experience to the healthcare field. As a critical care nurse and nurse case manager, she has dedicated her life to caring for others, advocating for patients, and ensuring their voices are heard.

Carolyn is not just an esteemed healthcare professional; she is also a gifted author. Her literary contributions include the beloved “Gentry Series,” where the title character navigates life’s choices, reminding us all of our own journeys. In her powerful works, such as “Circle of Friends” and “Left,” she invites readers to explore themes of friendship, resilience, and the human spirit.

Moreover, Carolyn’s talents extend beyond the written word. She is an accomplished dancer, her movements filled with grace and joy, embodying the rhythm of life itself. Her leadership shines brightly as she serves on the Bessemer Public Library Trustee Board and as a Board Member for the C.H.L.M.S. Medi-Helpz Foundation, focusing on patient engagement and education. Through her efforts, she uplifts her community and inspires others to do the same.

With her podcast, “Gentry’s Journey,” Carolyn has created a platform for growth and empowerment. Engaging with a diverse array of guests—authors, entrepreneurs, community activists, and healthcare professionals—she fosters meaningful connections and inspires her listeners. Over the past year, she has built a devoted following, creating a space where stories are shared, and voices are amplified.

As we celebrate Carolyn’s birthday, let us acknowledge not only her literary achievements but also her unwavering commitment to humanitarianism. She is a beacon of hope and strength, showing us that one person can indeed make a difference.

**What Does Linda Think?**

Carolyn’s contributions extend beyond the literary realm; they resonate deeply in the world of humanitarianism. Her dedication to patient advocacy and community engagement exemplifies the grace and compassion that Maya Angelou so eloquently championed. Carolyn’s ability to listen and uplift others reflects the essence of true leadership.

Her philanthropic efforts, coupled with her literary works, create a powerful impact that inspires countless individuals. In a world that often feels disconnected, Carolyn reminds us of the importance of community, friendship, and the art of listening. As I reflect on her journey and influence, I am filled with gratitude for the light she brings to our lives. Happy Birthday, Carolyn! Below you will find the interview I did with Carolyn a while back! We go back like 4 flats on a Cadillac! Enjoy!

**Listen Linda Speaks: An Interview with Carolyn Coleman**

**Jacquiline:** Carolyn, it’s such a pleasure to sit down with you today. You have touched so many lives in our community. Can you tell us a bit about your journey and what inspired you to become a nurse?

**Carolyn:** Thank you, Linda! I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story. My journey in nursing started with a desire to help others. I’ve always believed in the power of care and compassion. After earning my B.S. in Nursing from Samford University, I jumped right into critical care nursing, and it has been a fulfilling path for over 37 years.

**Jacquiline:** That’s incredible! You’ve dedicated so much of your life to helping others. How do you balance your work in healthcare with your passion for writing?

**Carolyn:** It can be a challenge, but writing has always been a cathartic outlet for me. I love creating stories that resonate with people. My “Gentry Series” reflects real-life choices we all face, and that connection keeps me motivated. Writing allows me to express my thoughts and emotions, which I find very rewarding.

**Jacquiline:** Speaking of your books, I know your works like “Circle of Friends” and “Left” have made a significant impact. What themes do you hope readers take away from them?

**Carolyn:** In those books, I focus on friendship, resilience, and the strength we find in each other. I want readers to feel understood and inspired to navigate their own lives with hope and courage. It’s all about building connections and supporting one another.

**Jacquiline:** You truly embody those values. And I’ve seen you shine on the dance floor! How does dancing fit into your life?

**Carolyn:** Dancing brings me joy and helps me stay active! It’s a wonderful way to express myself and connect with others. Whether it’s line dancing or just having fun with friends, it lifts my spirits and keeps me grounded.

**Jacquiline:** You’re also quite the leader in our community, serving as the President of the Bessemer Public Library Trustee Board and a Board Member for the C.H.L.M.S. Medi-Helpz Foundation. What motivates you to take on these roles?

**Carolyn:** I believe in giving back to my community. It’s important to empower others and create opportunities for growth and education. Being part of the library and the Medi-Helpz Foundation allows me to make a positive impact and help those in need.

**Jacquiline:** Your dedication is truly inspiring! Now, let’s talk about your podcast, “Gentry’s Journey.” What inspired you to start it?

**Carolyn:** I wanted to create a platform where diverse voices could be heard. By interviewing authors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, I hope to inspire others and foster meaningful connections. The podcast has become a space for growth and empowerment, and I’m so proud of that.

**Jacquiline:** It’s amazing to see how you’ve built such a strong following! As we celebrate your birthday, what message do you want to share with everyone about your journey and contributions?

**Carolyn:** I want people to know that we all have the power to make a difference, no matter how small. It’s about kindness, listening, and supporting each other. I’m grateful for the love and friendships I’ve built along the way, and I hope to continue inspiring others to do the same.

**Linda:** Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us, Carolyn. Your light shines bright, and we’re all better for having you in our lives. Happy Birthday!
