As I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I often wondered about the relationship between women and the priesthood. Priesthood power was often taught as something that was only possessed by men, and I wanted to know how I fit in to a very patriarchal church and if I really needed to learn much about the priesthood. In more recent times, there has been clearer teachings on what the priesthood is; that it’s God’s power... Read more

How The Lord Helped Me Through My HG Pregnancies

Last updated on: May 7, 2023 at 10:13 pm   By Rebecca Hale

I’ve had two very hard pregnancies, but I know that the Lord helped me through them. May is HG (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) Awareness Month, which is fitting since both of my HG babies were born in May. HG is extreme sickness during pregnancy. Unlike regular morning sickness, women with HG are rarely able to eat anything without nausea and excessive vomiting. While morning sickness is typically worse in the mornings and usually ends after the first trimester, HG lasts all day... Read more

How I’ve Built a Relationship With My Heavenly Mother

Last updated on: April 30, 2023 at 5:15 pm   By Rebecca Hale

Around Mother’s Day, I often find myself thinking about the mother of my spirit, my Heavenly Mother, and how I can continue to work on building a relationship with Her. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that we have both a Heavenly Mother and a Heavenly Father. Not much has been officially stated about Her, but Her existence and identity as a loving mother is a cherished doctrine. We are cautioned against speculating, but... Read more

Holy Are The Hallways

Last updated on: April 27, 2023 at 10:22 am   By Rebecca Hale

Since becoming a mom, I have spent most of my Sundays in the hallways rather than sitting in the chapel. From fussy newborns to chasing down a preschooler with ADHD, it’s a rare occasion that I actually get to sit in the pew. During one of these frequent outings in the hallway, the phrase “holy are the hallways” stuck in my mind. As we continually end up outside the chapel, I have thought about this phrase and what it means... Read more
