Georgia Bishops on Executive Action Regarding Immigration

Last updated on: November 21, 2014 at 1:37 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Last night I had hundreds of people I love and care about going through my mind.  I shared in their joy knowing that soon they will be allowed to apply for deferred action.  When hearing of the estimated number of people who will benefit from this executive action, five million people is simply a big number.  It is a different experience to hear about this executive action and know individuals who will be positively affected by it.  Individuals who love... Read more

El llamado de Jesus

Last updated on: March 25, 2016 at 5:32 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Read more

Birthplace of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary

Last updated on: March 25, 2016 at 5:32 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Tradition tells that Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was born in present day Bratislava, Slovakia in the 13th century and lived in its castle until the age of four.  Above is a beautiful state of Saint Elizabeth on the grounds of Bratislava Castle where Elizabeth is giving a beggar a loaf of bread. Elizabeth was the daughter of King Andrew II of Hungary, and after a brief marriage, lived her life as a widow taking care of the poor and sick... Read more

Francis on Priestly Vocation

Last updated on: November 5, 2014 at 10:02 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Recently the bishop of San Bernardo in Chile asked Pope Francis, “what would you say to a young person who at this moment feels a vocation to the priesthood or religious life?”  The Pope’s answer was simple, “that he allow himself to be gazed at by Jesus.  Jesus is the one who calls, not the priest, nor the bishop or the Pope.  It is Jesus who gazes at him with love, who shows him the people, who shows him the... Read more

Francisco sobre la Vocación Sacerdotal

Last updated on: November 4, 2014 at 10:30 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Read more

Priesthood: Living Well and Dying Well

Last updated on: March 25, 2016 at 5:32 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Exactly one week after being ordained a priest here at this beautiful Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, I celebrated a Mass in another cathedral that is about 200 years older and 3,000 miles away.  I celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving at the church where I was baptized surrounded by more than 200 family members and friends.  Once a rural country parish built in 1703 by Spanish colonists, now it’s the beautifully well-kept Cathedral for the southern districts of Lima,... Read more

Amar al Projimo

Last updated on: October 25, 2014 at 9:32 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Read more

Spanish Galleon in Savannah

Last updated on: March 25, 2016 at 5:32 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Last night the Galeon Andalusia docked in Savannah.  It’s a 2010 faithful wooden reproduction of a 16th century Spanish galleon.  Galleons were built by the Spanish to be ocean-going merchant ships carrying cargo between Europe, the Americas and the Philippines.  Prone to attacks by pirates, every galleon was armed with cannons for protection.   The ticket to go on board was a bit expensive, but I enjoyed looking around the galleon.  I imagined the cargo hold filled with gold... Read more

Jesús en la Historia

Last updated on: March 25, 2016 at 5:33 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Me consolé diciendo, “Bueno, siempre tenemos a Josefo y Tácito”. Did Jesus resurrect a stillborn baby?

Last updated on: March 25, 2016 at 5:33 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

[Written for the Southern Cross] Last week I read excitingly about an unbelievable find in the Vatican Archives.  It was so unbelievable, it ended up being false.  A scientist had found a first century document where a Roman historian recorded an eye witness account of Jesus resurrecting a stillborn baby.  After a few minutes of research I learned that the article was a hoax.  I said out loud in consolation, “well, we always have Josephus and Tacitus.” I have encountered... Read more
