The Cost of Immigration? A dead baby

Last updated on: December 14, 2018 at 9:29 am   By Father Pablo Migone

I will never forget the first time I saw a dead baby.  She was like a baby doll ready to be picked up by a child to play.  She was beautiful.  I was extremely nervous as I entered the room with my pastor, I was a fairly new seminarian.  The pastor had received a call through the emergency number and we rushed to the hospital in rural Georgia.  After he blessed the sleeping child with holy water and offered a... Read more

Homilia para Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

Last updated on: December 12, 2018 at 1:13 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Read more

The Words of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Last updated on: December 12, 2018 at 1:19 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

The Virgin Mary appeared four times to Saint Juan Diego on December 1531, only ten years after the defeat of the Aztec empire in Mexico by the Spanish. This time period marked the integration of Spanish and native cultures which ultimately gave rise to a unique people and culture which continues to flourish today throughout Latin America. Click aqui para mi homilia de hoy Mary’s words to Juan Diego were soon recorded in the work called Nican Mopohua written in... Read more

Zealous Missionary: Saint Francis Xavier

Last updated on: December 2, 2018 at 11:16 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

When the king of Portugal requested missionaries for his colonies in India from Ignatius of Loyola, Saint Ignatius sent one of his best men: Francis Xavier.  Francisco Javier was a fellow Spaniard and good friend having roomed with Ignatius while they studied in Paris.  Francisco Javier became one of the first members of the Society of Jesus which Ignatius founded.  In 1541 Francisco Javier set out for the Orient and spent the rest of his life preaching the Gospel in... Read more

Called by Jesus: Saint Andrew

Last updated on: November 30, 2018 at 4:58 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.  He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.  At once they left their nets and followed him.”  Gospel of Matthew 4, 18-20 This is the short yet powerful call of the brothers Peter and Andrew to follow Jesus.  Their response to a... Read more

Hope for the Future Church

Last updated on: November 28, 2018 at 8:45 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

God has blessed our diocese with five new seminarians this academic year. I am reminded of God’s love for His people that He continues to place a desire for the Priesthood in the hearts of young men so that He can manifest Himself through the sacraments of the Church. The prayer and support of so many faithful throughout South Georgia tremendously enc ourage young men to consider the Priesthood, and to take the concrete step to apply for seminary. Now... Read more

The Baltimore Basilica: the oldest cathedral

Last updated on: November 26, 2018 at 1:22 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

The first and oldest cathedral of the United States was built from 1806 to 1821 in Batimore, Maryland.  Officially named the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this beautiful church was designed by John Carroll, the first Archbishop of Baltimore, his cousin Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and Benjamin Henry Latrobe, architect of the U.S. Capitol Building. Though we proudly learn that the USA was founded on the principles of... Read more

Tuvo compasión de ellos

Last updated on: November 25, 2018 at 4:36 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Read more

Blessed Miguel Pro, pray for us!

Last updated on: November 23, 2018 at 5:02 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

On an early morning a few years ago I walked from my hotel to the Jesuit parish in Mexico City where the remains of Blessed Miguel Pro are buried.  Mass had just finished, so I walked up to the silver urn beneath his picture on the right side of the main altar.  During my brief visit, I was struck by the courage of this young priest who valiantly defied the persecutors of the Church and willingly died though he knew... Read more

Un ciego guiando a otro ciego

Last updated on: November 19, 2018 at 2:22 pm   By Father Pablo Migone

Read more
