KP Yohannan Was a Gentle Man Who Shook the Missions World

MOORESVILLE, NC — KP Yohannan (Metropolitan Yohan) — founder of missions agency GFA World (formerly Gospel for Asia) who died May 8 — once said to me: “I’m just a skinny kid from India who grew up to be a follower of Jesus.” Genuine humility was the mark of the man — a man whom God would choose to launch one of the greatest missionary movements the world has ever seen. Born into obscurity in the village of Niranam in... Read more

It hasn’t been a full day yet since being told the news that K.P. Yohannan died. As I sit at my desk and record my thoughts, I am fighting back tears. I sense I am still in shock. I believe I am one of the few who still called him K.P. It’s how he introduced himself some decades back when we first met. As a young man he had asked me for time to share his dream of seeing Asia... Read more

May Christmas Reassure You He Is Our Immanuel – God With Us

Last updated on: December 23, 2023 at 9:07 pm By KP Yohannan

I pray you and your family have a joy-filled Christmas, and may the blessings of the Holy Trinity be with you for the New Year! In The Chronicles of Narnia, the great Aslan tells the children that Narnia is really only a “shadow land.” And truly, where live now is just such a “Shadow Land.” Looking back throughout time and history, we can see so vividly that nothing here in this world, not even the mightiest nation or person on earth,... The price you and I are to pay in obeying our Lord is to face real-life opposition

Think about Apostle Paul’s life. He was a member of the Sanhedrin and the ruling party, very powerful. He had the highest possible education and much that would bring him esteem, but then he gave his life to Christ. Immediately after his commission, Jesus said, “I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake” (Acts 9:16). Then, for 30 years, Paul was like a wounded animal: Everywhere he walked, he could see the drops of blood from... Read more

Spending time in prayer for the world is not an easy thing

Last updated on: October 24, 2023 at 9:10 pm By KP Yohannan

Spending time in prayer for the world is not an easy thing. It takes energy to focus our attention, meditate and ask the Lord to give us faith. It expends not just our time but everything in us, engaging our hearts that God may bring about a different world. That is extremely significant. Thank you for joining with us in prayer for God to prosper the work of our national missionaries, like Pastor Haruto and Pastor Kagan. As it says in... Read more

Death Cannot Kill You

A good friend and well-known Christian theologian visited our work in Asia. He came to one of the leprosy colonies, filled with people who are in horrible pain and suffering. They are so alone, rejected by everyone, without any hope of relief. Then, he was invited to share something to those who had gathered, share a word of prayer. He told us he stood there, numb, not knowing what to say. Let me ask you—faced with a congregation who is... Read more
