WILLS POINT, TX – Gospel for Asia (GFA World) founded by KP Yohannan, which inspired numerous charities like Gospel for Asia Canada, Metropolitan of Believers Church, shares on the great blessing of having a relationship with God, the throne of great grace open to His children.
Our heavenly Father, He sees us, although we cannot see Him. And He knows. He knows what you’re going through right now. He knows the questions on your heart and the prayers you are praying.
He Is Present
He is not far away. We can simply in this minute say to God, “Heavenly Father, you know this is really true. We have this problem we are facing. We have something we’d like to see happen. And we don’t know what to do. And You ask us to pray, Lord. Would You please do a miracle and help us figure this out? Would You bring some solution to this difficulty?” And then in that moment, we are talking to the Living God. We are actually having a conversation with Him. And that’s what prayer is basically a conversation with God. Many times when I pray, I literally imagine that Christ is right there, and I am talking to Him. Or when I am driving along in my car, I imagine Jesus sitting next to me while I pray.
Without Ceasing
How do you explain Ephesians 6:18 that says, “Pray in the spirit at all times,” or 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing”?
Maybe you are in class or a meeting at work and the teacher or leader is talking. They are talking away, and you are thinking: “What is he saying? I have no idea. I don’t know what to do.”
Then you know what you do? You stop. Even while the lecture is going on, you simply say, “Lord, I really need Your help. I just can’t understand. Please give me wisdom. Give me ability to understand.”
I spend a lot of time on the telephone. For years, I have found something so amazing. I will be on the phone, and somebody is talking to me, asking me questions. And while the conversation is going on, I am talking to God. It’s so normal now for me. I say, “Lord, what this person is saying is something I never expected. Now what do You want me to say? How must I respond?”
And sometimes I can hear the Lord say, “Just listen. That is all. Don’t do anything.” And other times He answers instantly, saying, “This what you should say.” We can hear God speaking back to us if we listen. Conversation is not one-way, it is two-way. As a matter of fact, if you pause, even for a second, you will be surprised how, through experience, you can hear God speaking.
It doesn’t matter what we are doing; if we connect with God, He can help us understand what He is doing and what our part is. We can trust Him with it all. Prayer is not just a Christian thing to do at a certain time, but prayer should become our nonstop conversation with God.
Christ our Example
In John’s Gospel 17:1, we read, “After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said.” Jesus had talked and said all kinds of things, but finally, He just wanted to talk to His Father. So, while others are looking at Christ, all of a sudden, He turned His face toward heaven to the Father and simply started talking to Him.
And Jesus simply said (I am paraphrasing here), “Father, can I tell you this? I’m really concerned about My disciples. Lord, You know, You and I, we are so intimate and so united. And My wish is that they also may be One, just like We are.” (John 17:9–11, paraphrased). He stopped what He was doing to come to the Father and talk to Him about what was on His heart.
You will be surprised if you just talk to God continually, you will get to know Him better. The amazing thing is, as you pray for different things, He will answer your prayers. And you will say, “I can’t believe it, I just told Him about this a week ago, and all of a sudden, it happened! This is amazing!” Test it and try it.
When We Sin
When it comes to sin, things we do wrong, there is not one person who can say, “KP Yohannan, I am perfect. I have not done anything wrong; I have not thought anything bad.” No, all of us have failed.
God invites us in those time especially and He is saying to us, “Come, talk to Me. Even if you have done the worst thing in the world, and you think it is the darkest sin, it is the most horrible sin,” God says, “You know what, you come talk to Me about it. And I will forgive you; I will make it go away. And your heart will feel at peace. I will cleanse you, and you will feel so wholesome—white as snow, no more darkness and depression or any of those things.” We don’t have to wait to come to Him in those times and wait until we feel spiritual or up to it. But we can die to ourselves and our own feelings, and we can go to Him right away. He is ready.
No matter whether it is in need, or in sin, or in the enjoyment of the day, we come to God, and we join Him where He is. He is ever present, and we come to Him. And why is that important? Because our reflections, our knowledge and our usefulness, our experiencing a rich life totally depend on our relationship with God. And our coming to God and conversing with Him, which is prayer, is part of what maintains our relationship with God.
He knows all things from beginning until the end. And He told us in so many ways, “Tell Me your need, talk to Me about it, and I will answer you. As a matter of fact, I will show you things you never even imagined. But talk to Me. You tell Me about this.”
I am learning and you are learning, and we are learning together on this wonderful journey. And let’s remember always and in everything to come to Him and He will transform us. Greater is He who is us than He who is in the world. Let us come to Him.

KP Yohannan, founder and director of GFA World (Gospel for Asia), has written more than 200 books, including Revolution in World Missions, an international bestseller with more than 4 million copies in print. He and his wife, Gisela, have two grown children, Daniel and Sarah, who both serve the Lord with their families.
GFA World (Gospel for Asia) is a Texas-based charity that has been serving the “least of these” in Asia since its beginning in 1979, often in places where no one else is serving. GFA World workers serve as the hands and feet of Christ by ministering to people’s needs so they can understand the love of God for them for the first time. Gospel for Asia is engaged in dozens of projects, such as caring for poor children, slum dwellers and widows and orphans; providing clean water by funding wells; supporting medical missions; and meeting the needs of those in leprosy colonies.
