Last updated on: March 20, 2022 at 7:19 pm   By Kermit Zarley

Former superstar pro golfer Greg Norman is still at it, trying to dethrone the PGA Tour. As the CEO of LIV Golf International, he announced this week the schedule this year for the anticipated, Saudi-backed Super Golf League. LIV Golf will run it and it will have eight tournaments with a total prize money of an astronomical amount–$250 million. It will be funded by the Public Investment Fund, which is the sovereign wealth fund of the government of Saudi Arabia.... Read more

Is China’s Ambassador to the U.S. Believable?

Last updated on: March 18, 2022 at 11:14 am   By Kermit Zarley

Qin Gang, China’s ambassador to the U.S., issued a statement Tuesday about Russia’s unprovoked invasion and war in Ukraine. It comes in the aftermath of the public meeting at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, on February 4 this year between China’s President Xi Jinping and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. The last time they met in person had been two years prior. Although China and Russia do not have a formal alliance, the purpose of their meeting was to issue... Read more

Study Says Boys from Religious Families Do Better

Last updated on: March 17, 2022 at 12:46 pm   By Kermit Zarley

A new study about boys from religious families indicates that they do better in school and life than boys who come from non-religious families. Dr. Llana M. Horowitz, an assistant professor of Jewish studies and sociology at Tulane University, followed the lives of American teenage boys who came from families that attended evangelical churches regularly. Being Jewish, she says the results of her study also prove true for Jewish boys from religious families. Dr. Horowitz had an op-ed piece in... Read more

Comparing “Russian World” Teaching to Mystery Babylon: Part 2 of 2

Last updated on: March 17, 2022 at 12:11 am   By Kermit Zarley

In my previous post, Part 1 of this subject, I quoted at length from the recent “A Declaration on the ‘Russian World’ (Ruskii Mir) Teaching.” Signed by over 500 church leaders around the world, it condemns the growing teaching called “Russian World” in which people like Russia’s President Vladimir Putin call for the formation an ultra, ethno-nationalism that would go even beyond the geography occupied by the former Soviet Union to replicate the Russian Empire of medieval times, which included... Read more

Russia’s Lavrov Says U.S. Is the “Steamroller”

Last updated on: March 16, 2022 at 12:37 pm   By Kermit Zarley

There is much diplomatic effort going on right now about Putin’s War in Ukraine. Even Ukraine President Zelenskyy is sounding a bit optimistic about it. Yet in his virtual speech to the U.S. Congress today, he called on U.S. President Biden to be a “leader of peace” while also pleading again for the West, led by the U.S., to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine. The U.S. creating a no-fly zone over Ukraine in this war would effectively be widening... Read more

How to Have “Good Talk” in a Divisive Society

Last updated on: March 16, 2022 at 11:40 am   By Kermit Zarley

The Washing Post Magazine has an article today entitled “Good Talk” that I think is much needed in our increasingly divisive society. It tells about a new movement in some colleges and universities that helps students to have civil conversation about topics on which there can be sharp disagreement. Much needed in our society today. Social media is a prime example, in which people can get so inhumane in how they express themselves. It’s perhaps nowhere more evident than in... Read more

Comparing “Russian World” Teaching to Mystery Babylon: Part One of Two

Last updated on: March 16, 2022 at 12:20 am   By Kermit Zarley

After Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had his military invade Ukraine, on February 24th, the Orthodox Christian Studies Center of Fordham University in the USA issued a statement in various languages which has so far been signed by over 500 church leaders, many of them in various Orthodox Church denominations around the world, which condemns Russia’s current and unprovoked assault on Ukraine. This statement is entitled “A Declaration on the ‘Russian World’ (Ruskii Mir) Teaching.” It is a condemnation of an... Read more

Cameron Smith Wins The Players

Last updated on: March 14, 2022 at 10:40 pm   By Kermit Zarley

Cameron Smith became the fifth Aussie to win the PGA Tour’s premiere golf championship today–THE PLAYERS Championship at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He barely defeated Anirban Lihiri of India by one stroke to win what the pros call “the fifth major” in golf, Everyone agrees that it always presents the strongest field of the year, thus topping those of the four majors. The windy, rain-delayed tournament had to be extended an extra day to... Read more

Who Are Angels?

Last updated on: March 13, 2022 at 10:46 pm   By Kermit Zarley

The Bible has many narratives about angels appearing to humans and sometimes conversing with them. However, there are many questions that people have about angels that the Bible does not answer or provide information about. Here are some of my beliefs about angels that I have gleaned from the Bible: 1. Angels are spirit beings who, like God, do not have physical bodies (Hebrews 1.14). 2. As spirit beings, angels do not die. Earthly flesh dies; spirit does not (James... Read more
