Twenty-five year old Viktor Hovland of Norway dominated the PGA Tour’s season-ending FedExCup Playoffs by holding on to his lead yesterday, shooting a seven-under par 63 final round to win the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta by five strokes over the charging Xander Schauffele, who shot 62 while playing with the champ. Vikor had won last week’s BMW Championship as well to make it a runaway finale. In the victory presentation afterwards, Hovland said, “I played basically my... Read more

What Is the Christian Gospel?
Last updated on: April 28, 2025 at 11:46 am By Kermit Zarley
I’m almost finished writing a small book about the Christian gospel. The noun “gospel” appears in the New Testament of English Bibles about 100 times. The New Testament documents have come down to us in the Koine Greek language. Prior to the invention of the printing press, scribes used to hand copy manuscripts written in the Koine Greek language. Scholars now have over 5,000 of these ancient manuscripts, or portions of manuscripts, from which they compile a Greek New Testament.... Read more

“Trumpgate Will Make Watergate Look Like a Sunday School Picnic”
Last updated on: August 18, 2023 at 4:25 pm By Kermit Zarley
The Bible doesn’t mess around when it predicts the future. When Donald Trump was campaigning for the U.S. presidency in 2015-2-16, and then during his presidency in 2017-2021, I took a chance with my Kermit Zarley Blog, you might say, and began predicting what was going to happen to him due to his lying and braggadocious ways. I often quoted wisdom literature in the Bible, applied it to Trump, and thereby predicted he would have a miserable and embarrassing fall.... Read more

“Wars and Rumors of Wars”–Jesus
Last updated on: August 18, 2023 at 12:10 pm By Kermit Zarley
The death toll of the Russian war in Ukraine has now exceeded that of both the Vietnam War and the Afghan War. The U.S. suffered 58,000 dead troops in its nearly twenty-year war in Vietnam. The Afghan security forces lost 69,000 troops in its twenty-year war against the Taliban. And according to U.S. estimates, Ukraine’s military has now suffered 70,000 dead troops from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with Russia suffering about 120,000 dead troops. Yet this most brutal war... Dr. James Tabor is a biblical scholar, a Professor of Ancient Judaism and Early Christianity in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I’ve been a friend Dr. Tabor for over forty years. He often is interviewed on major television networks for his expertise. James has written about ten books and fifty journal articles. He is also an archaeologist in the Holy Land. His colleague at UNC at Charlotte is Dr. Bart Ehrman, who... Read more

Will America Stand?
Last updated on: August 11, 2023 at 5:56 pm By Kermit Zarley
Donald Trump became America’s president by accusing Washington, DC, the nation’s capital, of being a political cesspool of dishonesty. It was the pot calling the kettle black. On October 17, 2016, thus three weeks before Donald Trump was elected U.S. president, he tweeted on his Twitter account, “I will Make Our Government Honest Again — believe me. But first, I’m going to have to #DrainTheSwamp. What did Trump mean by “drain the swamp”? That expression means literally to remove water... Read more

Is Trump Above the Law?
Last updated on: August 11, 2023 at 4:39 pm By Kermit Zarley
Last week, ex-President Donald Trump was arraigned in a federal courthouse in Washington, DC, for his third, and second federal, indictment. He was charged for four crimes of planning and instigating the overthrow of the U.S. government regarding its presidential election results in 2020. Trump is accused of trying, on January 6th, 2021, to prevent members of the U.S. Congress from certifying the election results, in which Trump lost and Joe Biden won. Some call this action treason, which is... Read more

Seven Reasons Jesus Is Not God
Last updated on: August 10, 2023 at 1:13 am By Kermit Zarley
Patheos blogger Dayne Batten on the General Christian Channel has a post dated October 26, 2022, and entitled “Seven Reasons Why Christians Believe that Jesus Is God.” Well, I was a Trinitarian Christian like Dayne for 22 years and read myself out of that in the Bible. I undertook a massive study of the subject over the next 28 years in which I estimate that I read about a thousand books on the identity of Jesus and looked at a... Read more
