Trump Should Retake his Old Name Drumpf that Is Like Dump
Last updated on: August 29, 2026 at 6:09 pm By Kermit Zarley
President Donald Trump is like a dog that tries to urinate on every lamppost to let others dogs know of its presence. For example, in his second term as U.S. president, he is trying to rename buildings or geographical objects with his name or just any name that signifies he renamed it. It’s obviously because he is such a classical narcissist. Trump Is Trying to Rename the Kennedy Center For example, he’s been trying to rename the Kennedy Center in... Read more

Wyndam Clark Wins BMW Championship
Last updated on: August 23, 2026 at 10:37 pm By Kermit Zarley
Two-time U.S. Open champion Wyndam Clark frittered away his five-stroke lead today until he was tied with five-time major champion Rory McIlroy for a few holes early in the back nine at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. But Rory bogeyed the par five 17th hole, and Wyndam made a blazing finish with three final birdies to win by three strokes over Patrick Cantlay as McIlroy finished one stroke back of him in third place. Clark Wins Three Tour Tournaments... Read more

The Rebel Pro Golf Tour, LIV Golf, Is in Big Trouble
Last updated on: August 21, 2026 at 1:15 pm By Kermit Zarley
Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when I was competing full time on the PGA Tour, there were efforts to create an elite pro golf tour with a reduced field, playing it mostly in the U.S., that would compete with the PGA Tour. Mark McCormack, Arnold Palmer’s agent who founded International Management Group (IMG) that made an offer to recruit me, was involved with others who considered creating such a rebel pro golf tour. But it didn’t happen.... Read more

Scottie Scheffler Wins the FedEx St. Jude By Eight Strokes
Last updated on: August 16, 2026 at 3:30 pm By Kermit Zarley
Scottie Scheffler proved again today that he is still the best golfer in the world for the past three years by shooting a steady, four-under par 66 to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, by a whopping eight strokes over Si Woo Kim and Alex Noren who tied for second place. It was 30-year old Scheffler’s 21st win on the PGA Tour in a pro career of eight years. Since 1960, there have been... Read more

American Scottie Scheffler—the world’s #1 pro golfer for nearly the past three years—followed up his brilliant 61 yesterday with a two-under par 68 today to take a two-stroke lead into tomorrow’s final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee. Tied for second place are Scottie’s best friend Sam Burns, who shot a blazing 62 today, and Sungjae Im of South Korea. Counting the Cost Before Going to War
Last updated on: August 15, 2026 at 5:03 pm By Kermit Zarley
President Trump Promised “No More Wars” U.S. President Donald Trump campaigned for this current second term in the White House largely on the promise of “no more wars.” The U.S. previously had gotten itself into two Middle East wars that were a quagmire from which it had been difficult to extract itself: Iraq and Afghanistan. Voters believed former President Trump about this promise of no more war even though he had a shabby history of being true to his word.... Read more

Iran Deal Prevents U.S. & Israel Ship Transits thru Hormuz
Last updated on: August 6, 2026 at 7:49 pm By Kermit Zarley
Trump’s Iran war has now dragged on nearly six months even though he claimed in its beginning, on February 28th, that it would only last a few weeks. Lately, U.S. President Trump says they are near a peace agreement while Iran says they aren’t even in talks. Iran’s media reported today that Iran and Oman, both of which border on the Iranian-blocked Strait of Hormuz, are completing an agreement in which they would not allow ships or shipping cargoes from... Trump’s Gaza Reconstruction Plan Is on Track
Last updated on: July 31, 2026 at 1:22 pm By Kermit Zarley
As U.S. President Donald Trump is mired in quicksand in his war he initiated against an un-provoking Iran, his plan for reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, resulting in it being “the Riviera of the Middle East,” is thriving. It’s mostly because Hamas has decided to “lay down arms” in accordance with one of the first and most important directives in Trump’s “20-point plan” established by him as the head of the Board of Peace for Gaza. Israel Objects to Hamas’... Read more

CFR Panel Discusses Vatican View of Artificial Intelligence
Last updated on: July 30, 2026 at 1:45 pm By Kermit Zarley
The Council on Foreign Relations held a webinar panel discussion today about an Encyclical Letter issued by Pope Leo XIV on May 25, 2026, entitled “Magnifica Humanitus: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence.” This rather nebulous concept called “artificial intelligence,” which also goes by the acronym AI, now pervades so much of our world. Thus, Pope Leo’s paper on it is well timed and much needed, and so was this panel discussion on the subject... Read more

PGA Tour Bans Alleged Druggie But Not a Destructive Star Pro
Last updated on: July 29, 2026 at 9:50 pm By Kermit Zarley
The PGA Tour has for several years had a stringent anti-recreational drug policy without a similar policy that disciplines its members for angry outbursts that are “conduct unbecoming a professional golfer” that do more to discredit the Tour that a drug infraction does. Also, I have never known of a recreational drug that helps a pro play better golf. However, the nicotine from smoking cigarettes may help clam the nerves. The great Ben Hogan smoked many cigarettes on the golf... Read more
