Israel’s Division about Its Military Draft Law Exempting Yeshiva Students
Last updated on: June 13, 2019 at 11:44 am By Kermit Zarley
Benjamin Netanyahu won the election for Prime Minister of the State of Israel on April 9. But it didn’t really matter. For the first time in Israel’s history, the prime minister could not field a coalition government. What does that mean? Israel is a democratic country. It operates with a parliament that is similar to the U.S. Congress, yet different. The U.S. is pretty much a two-party system: Republican Party and Democrat Party. It also has two parliamentary houses: the... Read more

Trump Just Moved Closer to Impeachment
Last updated on: June 13, 2019 at 9:45 am By Kermit Zarley
Yesterday, President Donald Trump was interviewed on television in the Oval Office by George Stephanopoulos. The ABC News Chief Anchor asked the president whether or not during the upcoming presidential campaign he would accept from a foreign government “dirt”–derogatory information–about his political opponent he’d be running against or turn it over to the FBI. Trump answered, “I think maybe you do both. I think you might want to listen, there isn’t anything wrong with listening. If somebody called from a country,... Read more

Trump Has Lost It Now
Last updated on: June 10, 2019 at 2:58 pm By Kermit Zarley
Today, President Donald Trump was interviewed on the finance news TV channel CNBC. Trump claimed that China has “lost 15 to 20 trillion dollars in value since the day I was elected.” That is so far from the truth that this man looks like he is headed for a psychiatric ward. Maybe the DC lawyer and constant critic of President Trump, George Conway–who is married to one of Trump’s primary advisors, Kellyanne Conway–is right. Conway tweeted yesterday about President Trump,... Read more

U.S. Ambassador Friedman Says Israel Has Right to Annex Some of West Bank
Last updated on: June 10, 2019 at 11:41 am By Kermit Zarley
David Friedman, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, said two days ago that Israel has a right to annex Jewish settlements in the West Bank. He said specifically, “Under certain circumstances, I think Israel has a right to retain some, but unlikely all, of the West Bank.” Not according to international law. The UN has many resolutions that declare otherwise. Friedman and envoy Jason Greenblatt have been working with Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, in preparing a peace plan for Israelis... McIlroy Wins Canadian Open
Last updated on: June 9, 2019 at 10:33 pm By Kermit Zarley
Superstar Rory McIlroy shot a blistering 61 to win the RBC Canadian Open today by seven strokes over Webb Simpson and Shane Lowery at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It was the 16th PGA Tour title for the lucky Irishman. I say lucky because Rory said after winning, “I’ve been marking my ball with a loonie all week, and it might have to cross the border and come with me.” A loonie is a Canadian... Read more

Chris Christie Blames Sarah Huckabee for What Trump Did
Last updated on: June 11, 2019 at 10:25 am By Kermit Zarley
President Donald Trump was interviewed by the “shut and dribble” woman Laura Ingraham on Fox News in Normandy, France, last week. It was during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day in WWII with international dignitaries. Trump made disparaging remarks about Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Trump has been highly criticized for doing it while out of the country, which is against U.S. norms for its politicians. But it was made so much worse since the interview was... Read more

Is Trump Losing It with his Moon Talk?
Last updated on: June 8, 2019 at 10:42 pm By Kermit Zarley
President Donald Trump made some moon talk yesterday by tweeting, “For all the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon – We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!” That is another incoherent message for the president, which he has been doing more of lately. Is Trump losing it mentally? Such... Read more

Thirtieth Anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre
Last updated on: June 6, 2019 at 4:50 pm By Kermit Zarley
Tuesday was the thirtieth anniversary of the deadly Tiananmen Square Demonstration in Beijing, China. It was mostly Chinese college students demonstrating, calling for China to reform by adopting democracy. But the Chinese military fired their weapons randomly into the crowds, killing about 200 people in order to disperse them. This month’s Christianity Today magazine has an article about it by Dr. Jenny McGill of Indiana Wesleyan University. It features interviews of two Chinese dissidents who participated in the demonstration and... Read more

Does Pompeo Say Kushner’s Mid-East Peace Plan Is DOA?
Last updated on: June 2, 2019 at 5:06 pm By Kermit Zarley
The Washington Post just reported that on the basis of audio recordings it just obtained, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made off-the-cuff, negative remarks today at a closed door meeting with U.S. Jewish leaders about the upcoming Mid-East peace plan that President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is scheduled to unveil this month in Bahrain, UAE. Pompeo reportedly said, “It may be rejected. . . . It’s not particularly original, it doesn’t particularly work for me.” He added, “it’s got... Read more

Patrick Cantlay Wins the Memorial
Last updated on: June 2, 2019 at 4:13 pm By Kermit Zarley
Patrick Cantlay just shot a blistering 8-under par 64 to come from four strokes behind to win the PGA Tour’ s Memorial tournament by two strokes over Adam Scott. It was his second win on the Tour. Leader Martin Kaymer shot even par 72 to finish 3rd. Tiger Woods wowed the crowds by being 7 under par after twelve holes today. After playing near perfect golf, he stumbled with three badly-pulled iron shots to the left to shoot 67 and... Read more
