Creep Trump BBB
Last updated on: June 22, 2019 at 6:55 pm By Kermit Zarley
BBB=Belongs Behind Bars. One more woman–making it twenty-two now–who has come forward alleging that Donald Trump, who is the president of the United States of America, sexually assaulted her many years ago, in this case it being rape. I cannot believe that such a creep occupies the White House instead of the Big House. E. Jean Carroll is not a porn star (Stormy Daniels) or a Playboy model (Karen McDougall), but a famous New York journalist and advice columnist. Her... Read more

Mitch McConnell Appears to Be a Racist and the USA Needs to Do Reparations
Last updated on: June 19, 2019 at 9:28 am By Kermit Zarley
Republican Mitch McConnell, the U.S. Senate Majority Leader, told reporters at a media conference yesterday regarding America’s history of slavery, “I don’t think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago, for whom none of us currently living are responsible, is a good idea.” McConnell gave three reasons for his assertion: civil war, civil rights legislation, and the election of a black as president–Barak Obama. Baloney, McConnell! That 150 years just shows how far overdue reparations is. I’ll give you an... Read more

Will Evangelicals Vote Even More for Trump in 2020?
Last updated on: June 19, 2019 at 1:03 pm By Kermit Zarley
The Pew Research Center claimed that 81 per cent of Evangelicals who voted in the last presidential election voted for Donald Trump. For many, it had to do with abortion, same-sex marriage, and and other social issues. I am sympathetic to that. But I don’t think that is worth putting somebody in White House like Donald Trump, who could forever ruin our democracy and our reputation in the world. Besides, a significant portion of the American electorate supports pro-choice and... Read more

“The Orlando Sentinel” Endorses “Anybody But Trump”
Last updated on: June 18, 2019 at 4:47 pm By Kermit Zarley
President Donald Trump launches his 2020 presidential reelection campaign tonight in Orlando, Florida. The main newspaper there, The Orlando Sentinel, came out a few days ago with an op-ed piece from its editorial board that begins, “We’re here to announce our endorsement for president in 2020, or, at least, who we’re not endorsing: Donald Trump. . . . After 2 1/2 years, we’ve seen enough. Enough of the chaos, the division, the schoolyard insults, the self-aggrandizement, the corruption, and especially... Read more

Trump Heights
Last updated on: June 17, 2019 at 5:40 pm By Kermit Zarley
Yesterday, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at a special ceremony held in the Golan Heights. The purpose was the renaming of a tiny Jewish settlement there, previously named Bruchin. It has a population of only ten people. But Israel has plans to bring many Jewish settlers to this region. Netanyahu renamed Bruchin “Trump Heights” after his “great friend” Donald Trump. Bruchin was established thirty years ago. That was eight years after Israel had annexed the Golan Heights, in 1981.... Read more

Hong Kong Demonstrations Getting Bigger
Last updated on: June 17, 2019 at 12:17 am By Kermit Zarley
In the past nine days, there have been three very large demonstrations in Hong Kong against Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s handling of a legislative bill of extradition to China. The bill would require the courts of Hong Kong to extradite someone accused of a crime committed in mainland China. Citizens of Hong Kong fear that such a law could be gravely misused against them since courts in China are not as fair as they are in Hong Kong. But first... Read more

“The Enemy of the People” Is Donald Trump
Last updated on: June 16, 2019 at 10:56 pm By Kermit Zarley
Today, U.S. President Donald Trump again called The New York Times and The Washington Post–the two best newspapers in this land–“the enemy of the people.” The New York Times, founded in 1851, has been awarded 127 Pulitzer Prizes. They have 1,300 reporters on their staff, with many of them being investigative reporters. The Los Angeles Times, the third biggest newspaper in the country, has said that The New York Times has twice as many reporters as they do. As a... Read more

Gary Woodland Wins the 119th U.S. Open
Last updated on: June 16, 2019 at 8:29 pm By Kermit Zarley
Thirty-five year old Gary Woodland–a three time winner on the PGA Tour, but without a major–won the U.S. Open just now by three strokes over defending champion Brooks Koepka with a 13-under par 271 total. He started the day at 11 under par for 54 holes with a one stroke lead over 2013 U.S. Open winner Justin Rose. Most armchair quarterbacks probably thought Rose had the best the chance to win. But he survived that far only leaning on his... Read more

Gary Woodlands Leads the U.S. Open with One Round to Go
Last updated on: June 15, 2019 at 8:07 pm By Kermit Zarley
The U.S. Open is being played this week at my favorite golf course–the beautiful Pebble Beach Golf Links nestled along the Pacific Ocean at Monterey Peninsula, California. Gary Woodlands, who has never won one of the four major championships in golf (Masters, PGA, U.S. Open, British Open), has a one stroke lead over 2013 U.S. Open winner Justin Rose. Here are the leaders with one round left to play, tomorrow: Gary Woodland -11 under par 202 Justin Rose at -10... Read more

Should the Church Go Out of Business?
Last updated on: June 15, 2019 at 10:07 am By Kermit Zarley
Keith Giles is a terrific writer here at Patheos. He has written a post entitled “Let’s Put the Church Out of Business.” He criticizes the church being too much business and not enough about living the Christian life. I highly recommend reading this post. It reflects sentiments I’ve had about the church for nearly fifty years. Keith has written books about this and dozens of blog posts. He has a fun, animated video in this post that he and his... Read more
