Elon Musk–the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX plus the world’s richest man–has offered to buy Twitter because he loves to tweet. He has over 90 million Twitter followers, except who knows how many of those are bots, which is something he wants to clean up.

Musk tweeted this week that he has always voted Democrat, but no more. He says the Democratic Party has become the party of “division and hate.” Well, Elon, at least they keep it in the party. Donald Trump was, and still is, the Master of Division–not dividing the Republican Party but dividing the United States of America, which is far worse. Just about everyone, including Republicans, agrees that Donald Trump has been a most polarizing figure.

Elon Musk added that because of this division and hate in the Democratic Party, from now on he will vote Republican. Oh, I thought Elon was a genius. Yet now he’s going to vote straight Republican no matter what the issues! That doesn’t sound genius to me.

I like wisdom better. Peter Bergen, who I’ve met, has got some. His new book just came out, The Cost of Chaos: The Trump Administration and the World. It tells about how much President Donald Trump cost the nation, such as over a hundred thousand COVID deaths due to his early lies to the American public that COVID was a Nothing Burger while at the same time telling The Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward on February 7, 2020, which he has in his book Rage (xix-xx), “It goes through the air. . . . It’s also more deadly than your strenuous flus. . . . this is deadly stuff. . . . maybe five times more so.” So, why did Trump lie to the American public about it. He explained to Woodward (Rage, xviii, 286), “I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create panic.”

I have these Trump remarks in my book, Bible Predicts Trump Fall. I then follow them up by quoting a Bible proverb, “There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14.12). Trump’s way of playing down COVID was costly. At least President Trump is to credited with later changing his mind and going all out to create vaccines against this terrible pandemic. But he still was divisive about it, often refusing to listen to the medical experts who knew better.
