Keegan Bradley finally won his fourth PGA Tour tournament after a six-year drought. He defeated Justin Rose on the first extra hole in a sudden-death playoff to win the BMW Championship.

The rain-plagued event had to go an extra day–to Monday. Both players finished regulation 72 holes on the Aronimink Golf Club just outside Philadelphia at 20-under par 260 total.

On the first extra hole, the par four, 463-yard, uphill, 18th hole, both players hit their second shots onto the right fringe of the green about 25 feet from the hole. Keegan putted up close, assuring his par. But Justin putted short, leaving himself a testy four footer. He then stroked it poorly, hitting it firmly yet missing on the low side of the cup. The handsome Bradley celebrated with his arms held high and then went happily to hug his wife and one-year plus old child.

Tiger Woods again made himself proud in his comeback this year from multiple, low-back surgeries that threatened to end his pro golf career if not leisure golf. He finished 5th. It also qualified him for the last FedEx event, next week. And it verified that Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk seems to have made a wise choice last week in giving Tiger a coveted spot on the team. The Ryder Cup matches are only a month away now. They will be played in Paris, France, with much excitement. It is pretty amazing what Tiger is doing. It’s hard to come back like that, and he’s having a very good year.

Although Justin finished second, he still came up smelling like a rose by gaining the World Ranking of #1 pro golfer in the world. And he will be leading the European team in those Ryder Cup matches.

Next week–the Tour Championship, which will be the fourth and final FedEx Cup championship to determine that winner. He will bank a cool $10 mil. Bryson Chambeau is still at the top of the list based on points for the four tournaments.

The PGA Tour is alive and well. I like this FedEx Cup format as a grand finale for the year. Then the Ryder Cup.
