[For several successive days, I have been posting excerpts from a chapter on UFOs in an unpublished book manuscript I’ve written. I believe some UFO sightings–probably hundreds worldwide in the past two generations–have been unnatural phenomena (I would say supernatural) attributable to angels (cf. Daniel 4.13, 17, 23; Hebrews 1.14; 1 Peter 1.12).

Yesterday, I posted about NASA UFO incidents, with the main one being the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 in which humans walked on the moon for the first time. That mission fulfilled former President John Kennedy’s announced goal to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade. The mission involved three astronauts: Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins. Aldrin and Armstrong walked on the moon for 2.5 hours while Collins piloted the module circling the moon. I reported in that post that during the NASA briefings of these three men after they returned to earth, they mentioned that they saw UFOs.

Now, it should be understood exactly what the term “unidentified flying object” means. It merely means that the object seen is not properly identified, not that it is in fact the result of some extraterrestrial being, sometimes referred to as an “alien.” And what is meant by “extraterrestrial being”? This only means some intelligent being whose origin is outside of planet Earth.

An article published today in the USA TODAY newspaper and its partners provides new information about testimony by the astronauts of Apollo 11. It reports that Buzz Aldrin said in the NASA briefings after the mission that he saw something in space while traveling to the moon. Last Sunday, the British tabloid Daily Star published an “exclusive” account, claiming that Aldrin “passed a lie detector test” confirming that he had seen an alien during the Apollo 11 mission.

The Daily Star refers to an examination of a decades-old tape recording of Aldrin’s verbal account of what he saw while flying during Apollo 11. A small firm in Ohio, USA, used software to analyze whether or not Aldrin was speaking truthfully about what he saw. This examination by BioAcoustic Biolology and Sound Health verified the truthfulness Buzz Aldrin’s account. The Daily Star made a bogus conclusion about this test, saying Aldrin was “completely convinced” he had seen a sign of alien life.

But that doesn’t really help solve the matter. The question to ask is not whether American astronauts tell the truth about a UFO sighting. The question to ask is, What was it? BioAcoustic’s spokesperson Sharry Edwards said their tests reveal that Aldrin was telling the truth about what he saw. NASA spokesperson Stephanie Schierholz said what Aldrin saw was probably four panels that had separated from their spacecraft and were flying alongside it.

But in my post, I don’t tell about any of this. Rather, I tell about Aldrin and Armstrong saying in their briefings after the Apollo 11 flight that they had seen UFOs on the moon while they themselves were on the moon. As I explained in an earlier post about UFOs (my post yesterday is one of a series of ten, successive, daily posts), from 1970 to 1997 I lived about seven miles from NASA headquarters. The word spread in our area that these astronauts had seen UFOs while on the moon.

Thus, I don’t think this report by the Daily Star even addresses the main UFO sighting by astronauts of the Apollo 11 mission.
