My book, Palestine Is Coming: The Revival of Ancient Philistia (1990), is now digital. Over half of its fourteen chapters are now available as a shortened version for free at my website kermitzarley.com by clicking here. The full book will be available for purchase as an e-book at amazon.com soon. The printed book is available at my website.

Palestine Is Coming is a three-part book: First Part: The Past, Second Part: The Present, and Third Part: The Future. This free, shortened, e-book version at my website does not have chapters 3-9, which are about the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Instead, this shortened version has only chapters 1-2 and 10-14 that are about the book’s proposal for solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I’m doing this to try to start a conversation about this book’s proposal. Also, you can read ten articles there at my website which represent updates to this book’s proposal. They are mostly about historical events that have occurred since this book was published twenty-six years ago that make its thesis more plausible. Thus, this book’s proposal for solving the conflict is much more relevant than when the book was published, in 1990.

What is the book’s proposal? It is an alternative two-state solution: let Israel have all of the West Bank in exchange for its coastal plain south of Tel Aviv to Gaza and some of the Negev eastward. The Palestinians thereby get a very expanded Gaza Strip in which to establish their independent, sovereign state. This solution is based on historical precedent. Israel claims historical precedent in its Proclamation of Independence, which is the only basis for the existence of the State of Israel since its leaders did not continue to follow the U.S. in drafting a Constitution. In this document, Israel claims a right of Jewish people to their “ancestral land,” which is implicitly identified therein as “Eretz Yisrael,” which means “land of Israel.” But Israeli authorities have never specifically identified Eretz Yisrael. I believe this is a needed conversation in Israel in order to solve the conflict.

But the book is more than a proposal for solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; it is also a prediction of its outcome. In the last four chapters, chapters 11-14, I interpret ten texts in the prophetical writings of the Jewish Bible (Old Testament) to show that they indicate there will be a Palestinian state on the coastal plain and that the current West Bank, what Jews call “Judea and Samaria,” will be part of Israel.

As for the sticky issue of East (Old) Jerusalem, I think it should be treated as the United Nations declared in a resolution in 1947–which also has ever since been the position of the Roman Catholic Church–that it be made an international district.
