The Masters is again providing excitement. After three rounds, several outstanding players have a reasonable chance to win it tomorrow. Angel Cabrera and Brandt Snedeker are leading at 7 under par. Adam Scott is one back. I think all three of those guys have terrific golf swings. Cabrera has sure proved it, with two majors to his credit. Jason Day was leading in the back nine and fell behind two shots. That’s two Aussies among the top five leaders. No Australian has ever won the Masters, yet they’ve won nine U.S. Opens. Remarkable. I remember when Australian Bruce Devlin was leading the Masters on Sunday when he entered Amen Corner. On the par-four eleventh hole, he went for the green from the fairway and put two balls in the pond on the left. He walked off that green with a snowman on his card–an 8–and that was the end of his chances. They say Ben Hogan, the greatest shotmaker of all time, always said he would never play to the eleventh green on his second shot because of that left pond, that he would play safe to the right of the green. In fact, that’s where Larry Mize was when he chipped in against Greg Norman to win their playoff. Larry is a strong believer in Jesus and has been a regular in attending the PGA Tour Bible Study.

Talk about the Christian pros in the Tour Bible Study winning majors–they won two of the four last year. Bubba Watson won the Masters, and Web Simpson won the U.S. Open. I saw them publicly give their testimony of faith in Christ earlier in the year in an evangelistic outreach that the pros put on here at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, in which about 1,000 people attended. Jesus is still very important to lot of the pro golfers on the PGA TOUR, and a lot of them have been winning many tournaments for decades.
