I want you to close your eyes and think about something with me.

When a man and a woman make love, they often conceive a child together. So, the “Love” they made resulted in a person. That new person is literally the fruit of their lovemaking.

In the New Testament book of 1 John, we’re told something quite extraordinary: “God is love” (1 John 4:16)

So, if God is Love, and if God created humans in his own image [as it says in the book of Genesis], then that means that God created people in the image of Love [because God is Love].

God made love and that love took on the form of humankind. We are love because God is love and God created us to be like Godself.

Still with me? Good.

So, If God is love [and I believe this is true], then we are made in the image of Love, and when we make love, we also make humans who continue to carry the mark of God’s love [and our love] forward.

To make love, then, is to make humans [in a purely procreative way], and this is because humans [like God] are the image of Love.

When we love one another – whether through sexual intimacy, or simply showing compassion, or kindness, or mercy to another person, we are fulfilling our deepest core identity as the image-bearers of God [who is Love].

In other words, when we love one another we are resonating with the frequency of love that originated with God and is now multiplied every single time we express love, which is our truest self [the image of Love incarnate].

Making love is just one of the many beautiful ways we share in the nature of God [who is Love] and sometimes this lovemaking even produces another person [who is Love], just as God [who is Love] created us in God’s own image [which is Love].

Our children look like us. They bear our image. They are made in the image of their parents. But, they are also created in the image of God and therefore they are created in the image of Love.

When we make love, we are making love with God. Because “all who live in love live in God and God lives in them.” [1 John 4:16]

When we make love, we are making [at least potentially] another human and that human is also made in the image of God, and the image of Love.

Every child is the love we have made. Every person is created in and through love.

Love is in our DNA. Love is what got us here. Love is what will show us the way forward.

When we live in love we live in God, and God lives in us.

So, let’s become experts in making love, and sharing love, and showing love, and being love because all that matters is love.

Love is our birthright.

We are never more human or Divine than when we truly love another person.

Love is where God lives and when we love, God lives in us.

Don’t you love this?
