NOT GUILTY! A Win for Eric Scheidler and the Pro-Life Movement

Last updated on: August 3, 2015 at 2:16 pm   By Kathy Schiffer

Just in:  Eric Scheidler has been acquitted of charges of criminal trespass stemming from the April 15 protest at Planned Parenthood ‘s big fundraising gala at Navy Pier. Peter Breen, Special Counsel for Thomas More Society, called it, “a great win.”  Breen defended Scheidler alongside Associate Counsel Corrina Konczal.  “People have a right to go on Navy Pier,” Breen asserted. “…It’s a public place – and you can’t be excluded because you are protesting an event that is happening there. ... Read more

Pro-Life Leader on Trial Today, Accused of Trespassing at Navy Pier During Planned Parenthood Gala

Last updated on: August 3, 2015 at 9:44 am   By Kathy Schiffer

A prominent pro-life leader faces a judge this morning in Cook County Court, in what appears to be an unfounded case of criminal trespass. Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League and the son of long-time pro-life leader Joseph Scheidler, had organized a protest April 15 against Planned Parenthood, as the abortion giant held a fundraiser in the Ballroom at Chicago’s Navy Pier. The protest was held on public property near the pier’s entrance. At one point during... Read more

TIMELINE: The #DefundPP Vote Will Be at 5:30 P.M. Monday. If It Passes, the President Will Quickly Veto It

Last updated on: August 2, 2015 at 7:36 am   By Kathy Schiffer

So it appears that Congress will vote this week to de-fund Planned Parenthood. Pro-abortion Democrats are planning a filibuster, which will require 60 votes–pretty unlikely, by all estimates. If the bill somehow escapes death by filibuster, then shortly, if not immediately, afterward, President Obama will veto that bill. I participated in Friday’s #DefundPP Twitter storm–but so what? This Administration does not care what I think, they do not care what you think, they do not care what is legal, because…. Abortion.... Read more

The Family That Prays Together…

Last updated on: July 31, 2015 at 6:00 am   By Kathy Schiffer

…Stays Together. That was the message of Servant of God Patrick Peyton, the founder of Holy Cross Family Ministries who was best known as the “Rosary Priest.” Just in time for the World Meeting of Families, Saint Benedict Press has released a new book chock-full of ideas and inspiration for parents who want to lead their families in prayer. The Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia Congregation authored the beautifully illustrated hardcover book, titled A Short Guide to Praying as a Family: Growing Together in Faith... Read more

Government’s “Church Security Summit” to Convene in Detroit

Last updated on: July 25, 2015 at 8:01 am   By Kathy Schiffer

Are you feeling a little less safe in church these days? Since Dylann Roof gunned down South Carolina State Senator Clementa Pinckney and eight other worshippers last month in a Charleston church, some are concerned that their own church might be vulnerable to attack by a disgruntled or mentally disturbed shooter. If a deranged killer entered your church and opened fire, would you know how to react? In the wake of the Charleston shooting, three federal agencies have come together to help churches... Read more

Prayer Need: Satan’s Minions Invade the City of Detroit

Last updated on: July 24, 2015 at 2:32 pm   By Kathy Schiffer

Tomorrow’s the day: On Saturday, July 25, a statue of the demon Baphomet will be unveiled in the city of Detroit. I described the one-ton idol, which was originally intended for display at the Oklahoma State House, last week in the National Catholic Register: The statue is a nine-foot-tall, 2,000-pound bronze likeness of Baphomet, a horned demon who has been associated with the medieval Knights Templar. The demon, depicted in this sculpture as a goat’s head atop a man’s body with... Read more

A CORRECTION to Michael Voris’ Slanderous Post re. Sacred Heart Seminary

Last updated on: July 24, 2015 at 11:21 am   By Kathy Schiffer

Michael Voris is a controversial blogger who runs St. Michael’s Media and produces his popular video series The Vortex from his studios in Ferndale, Michigan. This week, Voris leveled a scurrilous charge against Detroit’s Sacred Heart Major Seminary. In a blog and video released July 21, Voris implied that a number of the seminary’s students are homosexual, and that the faculty and administration are “gay-friendly” and fail to protect Catholic teaching. In his 8½ minute video, Voris said: A faculty member priest... Read more

An Insider’s Look at the Papacy of Pope Francis

Last updated on: July 18, 2015 at 6:11 am   By Kathy Schiffer

From the start of his papacy, Pope Francis has been a colorful subject for the official Vatican photographers. You’ve seen hundreds of red-cloaked cardinals gathered for the consistory. You’ve probably laughed at some of the informal photos: Francis hugging a baby or homeless man, Francis greeting brides and grooms, Francis encountering a chocolate likeness of himself, Francis donning a red clown nose when circus performers come to St. Peter’s Square. Now those familiar photos, along with more than 250 photos that have never been... Read more
