Okay, okay. I admit it. I was one of those who rose up at o’dark-thirty to watch Diana Spencer wed her Prince. I was newly married myself, full of googly-eyed wonder, unaware of the heartbreak that awaited.

I admired Diana from afar for all sorts of reasons. I felt a real solidarity with her when we both became pregnant and delivered babies within the same week of each other. I dreamed of one of my girls moving to England and marrying a Prince herself.

Okay. Not really. But it sounds enchanting.

I think Diana would be proud of the men her sons have become.  That’s something, you know, giving your parents reasons to brag on you. We should all strive to be the sort of people that makes others proud to know us.

I have yet decided whether I will wake early to watch Kate and Will tie the royal knot, but I so appreciated what the Archbishop had to say about marriage: Every marriage is a commitment that says I am prepared not only to spend my life with you, but to spend the rest of my life finding out about you. There’s always going to be more of you to discover. There’s a mystery, a delight at the heart of human beings. It’s possible to spend a lifetime and more exploring just that.

What about you? Did you watch the last one? You going to watch this one?
