Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still be here at this site just like I’ve always been, talking about politics, religion, knuckleheads and demon dogs. But today I am debuting a whole new project.
Drumroll, please.
This is the official introduction for “AlltheChurchLadies!!!”
The idea for allthechurchladies.com came to me while traveling through the Southeast on book tour. I’ve been muddling this thing over in my head ever since.
I have always loved the Church. (Remember when we thought of churches as real works of art and not just another drafty warehouse?) I love walking through the church’s musty hallways on a Monday morning, when everything is silent and cool shadows tempt angels. I love the way the poor man’s rendition of The Last Supper tilts on the wall ever so slightly like sailors on a binge. I love the thunder of an organ, played by a master, and the way it makes the listener’s soul vibrate. I love a choir loft full of sweet-faced people of all ages, donned in satin robes of gold or white, their mouths forming perfect Os, their voices creating no-so-perfect harmony. Even the most discordant voices possess a beauty when they come together in praise of something bigger than self. That’s what I believe. That’s why at AlltheChurchLadies, you’ll find a variety of voices attempting to do that very thing — speak out in praise of the Church. Not just the Body of Christ, but that place down the street with the steeple like an arrow, pointing us to look up and see what it sees.
AlltheChurchLadies.com is the site dedicated to conversation about all the good the Church is doing and the people laboring to ensure that happens.
So head on over & bookmark the site. Tell your friends via email, Twitter & Facebook.
Men. You too. You’re welcome there as well. Especially those of you involved in ministry, whether that be worship or preaching or teaching or running the business end of it. Come swap stories.
And now for a special feature produced, directed and performed by a very special Church Lady who is lending her own discordant voice to this project :
