Temptation: A sermon by Pastor Bob
Last updated on: February 26, 2012 at 3:55 am By John Shore
Perhaps the greatest temptation we face is that temptation that has been with us from the beginning: the temptation to ask and wonder: Is there really a God? (more…) Read more

A woman commenting on yesterday’s post (1 Man, 2 Women in a Polyamorous Relationship) wrote: I shared this blog with a few of my Christian friends that I thought might be open to the discussions we have here [on the blog], because John had suggested that sometimes, when people read his responses to complicated situations and all the comments of support for people going through different circumstances, it helps to use that to start a conversation with others. I thought... Read more

Then I went to hell
Last updated on: February 21, 2012 at 3:19 pm By John Shore
I saw her standing there—then I went to hell! I heard it through the grapevine—then I went to hell! I can’t get no satisfaction—then I went to hell! I just called to say I love you—then I went to hell! I shot the sheriff—then I went to hell! (more…) Read more

Fundamentalists: Problem solved!
Last updated on: February 20, 2012 at 8:48 am By John Shore
Got this in yesterday: Hello Mr. Shore. Thanks for your writing—I find your ideas inspirational. I have what is probably an obvious question, but I have yet to truly understand the answer. I’m curious how fundamentalists, who take the Bible as the literal word of God, are able to rationalize only adhering to certain of the Bible’s tenants. For instance, how did they become so focused on the rules around sexuality, but not around slavery, clothing, etc.? (more…) Read more

Mountain Climbers: A sermon by Pastor Bob
Last updated on: February 19, 2012 at 7:45 am By John Shore
“I invite you on such a journey, but know that it is not an easy one. You may find your life changed, even turned upside down. You may have to leave some fishing nets or broken tablets behind. You may wonder if you have anything to say at all about God. But nonetheless, I invite you to come. For you are in good company. May we climb down this mountain together.” (more…) Read more

“I’ll do” is not “I’ll do you.”
Last updated on: February 18, 2012 at 11:18 am By John Shore
Relative to some of the conversation that’s come up around yesterday’s post, If no one’s being hurt, God’s okay with your sexuality: Saying that God doesn’t condemn any two consenting adults who love each other in whatever way they might is not at all the same as encouraging or condoning casual sex. Conflating those two is a complete failure of logic. And there’s no such thing as casual sex—just like there’s no such thing as casual skydiving or casual bullfighting. If... Read more

If no one’s being hurt or exploited, God’s okay with your sexuality
Last updated on: February 17, 2012 at 12:41 pm By John Shore
Lately I’ve received a fair number of emails from people wanting me to understand all kinds of things about human sexuality. (The most popular/immediate being that pansexuals are people who are basically not yet ready to admit that they’re bisexual or gay.) So about all that sort of thing I just want to say real quick: I don’t care. Asexual, heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, pansexual, polysexual, polyamory, transgender, third gender, two-spirit, genderqueer, intersex, cissexual, gets off watching Dukes of Hazzard, shouldn’t...
