simplify ways to connect

Last updated on: January 27, 2021 at 11:39 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

To be honest, my Connect page is an experiment.  I’ve had to simplify other page concepts. Many websites have a contact information page.  Since I work from a mobile office, a traditional contact page is not necessary.  However, I want to give everyone a glimpse of my online presence, so to speak. Some other authors on Patheos may have a book page.  To this point I have written discipleship materials, so there is no need for a book page yet.  I... Read more

on the need for a video platform

Last updated on: January 21, 2021 at 9:06 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

When we think about a the need for a video platform, was it even a concern in 2019?  For pastors of smaller to medium churches, the congregation is often quite healthy with little or no online presence, and no video platform.  Then last year rolled in . . . and suddenly a video platform became a real need. I’ve been on YouTube since 2018.  I looked into Vevo and and a number of video platforms.  However, they are not really... Read more

on the one-page concept

Last updated on: January 20, 2021 at 4:49 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Do you have a one-page?  A chapter has come to an end.  I’m not a President changing offices, but I am changing offices.  I’ve been in pastoral ministry for quite some time.  At this stage I’m still a minister, but I’m shifting my focus a little more toward teaching and counseling. It would be a pity not to take advantage of the platform at Patheos, the world’s largest religious website.  So I’m utilizing the tools given me through this proprietary... Read more

A Little More on 2020

Last updated on: January 16, 2021 at 9:31 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

A little more on 2020 . . . Years from now, we all will have our own stories to tell about the year and we will have a global narrative to recall as well.  I’m taking some more time to focus on highlights, not my saga of suffering. All I’ll say at this point is I wish I could go to a game . . . I’m hearing good things about a full baseball season.  I hope it includes fans.... Read more

What did David hear?

Last updated on: January 11, 2021 at 7:32 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

What did David hear?  What do you hear in conversations, in life, and from God?  Are you listening with both ears?  Are you listening with the 3rd or the 4th ear?  Tune-in to look at the classic story of David and Goliath from a counseling perspective. What did David hear? This is a retelling of a well-known story, integrating it with therapy.  It’s a classic story with a giant threat, literally.  It’s David and Goliath from 1 Samuel 17.  Here... Read more

Martin Luther as a person

Last updated on: January 4, 2021 at 8:27 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

On October 31st, 1517 Martin Luther nails his 95 Theses to the Wittenberg church door and adds these doctrines to church history.  This is the location where scholars post their documents for open dialogue, perhaps like forerunner of our academic, peer-reviewed journals.  I’ve always wondered, are we celebrating the right holiday on October 31st? There is a good film from 2003, simply called Luther The cast includes: Jonathan Firth, Alfred Molina, Joseph Fiennes, and Sir Peter Ustinof.  The acting is... Read more

a number of thoughts on Sola :-)

Last updated on: January 4, 2021 at 8:21 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

We tend to remember and preach about only a couple of these points, but there are five solas.  They offer us a more robust understanding of the Reformation. Sola Gratia | by grace alone Sola Fide | through faith alone Sola Christus | in Christ alone Sola Scriptura | according to Scripture alone Sola Deo Gloria | for the glory of God alone How do we understand the 5 Solas? We have a basic English transliteration… “alone” or “only.”  So if sola means only,... Read more
