working on a couple fronts

Last updated on: August 29, 2021 at 1:26 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

I have never really been great at remote work only, working only from home. I enjoy being in an office setting around others, with a desk. Nonetheless, working online may be on the horizon. We are finding ourselves entering a time when we need to start looking for employment. Please pray for us as this is a discerning process. These are some jobs I’ve saved in Virginia, primarily in education. I don’t know if I’ll start with full time or... Read more

peace, love, and good questions in Ecclesiastes 3

Last updated on: August 25, 2021 at 2:32 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Everyone wants personal peace, probably at least since the peace movement in the 1960’s. However, have we lost sight of the Biblical understanding, the strength of a peace that binds us together in community? In this series, we’ve looked at the authorship of Ecclesiastes CLICK HERE Then we started with the timeless beauty of the poem in Eccl 3. Come on down here and study Pneumatology! :-)

Last updated on: August 21, 2021 at 1:44 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Then there is Pneumatology. Pnuema is the Koine Greek word for breath, wind, and/or spirit (Koine being the common tongue language of New Testament times). Therefore Pneuma-tology is the way Theologians refer to the study of The Spirit, the Holy Spirit; and it is fascinating Rev. Paulus Taylor, a Spirit-filled minister from the West Indies, once said “Anyone can pitch. I’m looking for better batters.” Vanderbilt University strengthened its program with good pitchers, even if their method seems uncoventional. They... Read more

resonating in awe with the presence of God in Ecclesiastes

Last updated on: August 19, 2021 at 10:37 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

We are to be silent as we’re resonating in awe with the presence of God. However, we are to make our voices known at the wonders of God (His movements, miracles, proclamations, etc.). First, I have made some corrections from the last 2-3 posts or so, because I sometimes express thoughts from an old school perspective, not realizing that they’re red flags now. Not all terminology that was… is still acceptable. I should have known better. I am releasing this... Read more

knowing the times | an introduction to Ecclesiastes 3

Last updated on: August 19, 2021 at 10:37 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Knowing the times: “Open your barns when it is the time to do so; and plant in season, and let the clusters be cut when they are ripe, and launch boldly in spring, and draw your ship on shore again at the beginning of winter, when the sea begins to rage.” (Gregory Nazianzius, On Holy Baptism.xl.xiv). i. the times for everything, an introduction to Ecclesiastes 3 “It is clear, even with a moderate insight into the nature of things, that... Read more

regarding Solomon and the authorship of Ecclesiastes

Last updated on: September 3, 2021 at 3:51 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

With the expansion of the Davidic Kingdom, Solomon would have had more exposure to the outside world, language, culture, and thought. This would include exposure to surrounding kingdoms. Therefore his thought, language, and writing style could have been influenced. This may or may not become a series on Ecclesiastes, but it’s helpful to understand some of the interesting back-story. First of all, there are various opinions about Solomon as the author Although it is most commonly attributed to Solomon, there... Read more

we’ll get through this

Last updated on: August 19, 2021 at 1:06 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

If you’re not in that place of favor, gridlocked in the ministry of the mundane, don’t worry, we’ll get through this. Sometime ago, not too long really, I yielded to the temptation to participate in the sacraments on my own. Some say it can’t be done. I know one pastor who has an altar in his parsonage. Doesn’t that sound like the Patriarchs, always building prayer altars everywhere they went? What was my purpose? I seldom come to the altar/table... Read more

timed writing | are you a writer?

Last updated on: August 19, 2021 at 6:05 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Oh, again with a free writing, perhaps timed. I went for a jog today and could’ve got soaked in a deluge (actually a great band in their day). Fasting in a way, I’m watching out.. replenish. Now planning shorter meals, practicality not high on my giftings. French dressing is out for salads, oil and vinegar, possibly Braggs and Newman’s are a-ok. Shepherds may find themselves eating sheep cheese because of food sensitivities, keeping it simple but not a-ok. Brauts sound... Read more

regarding college students, seminaries, & accreditation

Last updated on: August 9, 2021 at 2:10 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

I was told once that professors at a particular school formed good relationships with students. If they found students with the ability to exceed and make a viable Kingdom impact, they would just send them to Harvard or Yale. This is what we used to call a free-writing in high school, although it was usually timed. There were other parameters, so I have set my own. It’s Sunday, so I’d like to start the week off right, or at least... Read more

Williamsburg, amusement, food, history, & a spot of tea

Last updated on: August 6, 2021 at 8:29 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Rumor has it that Bohea Tea was dumped overboard at the Boston Tea Party. Opened it and smelled the robust loose leaf aroma. Delectable, as were the enticing aromas in the entire store. So, I normally write as a Pentecostal scholar and voice as an Evangelical Columnist for Patheos, but this week is vacation. Here we are starting the four day excursion Everywhere we went, I realized I may be getting older because I was thoroughly enjoying the food smells more... Read more
